Allen Adult Caliper Release,
By Bow Guy "Vish" (Queens NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Allen Company Adult Caliper Release with T-Strap (Sports)
It is my first caliper release, but I will be able to review it. At first I thought the trigger was too hairline, but with use it has worked flawlessly. I have not yet had any misfire. I am completely use to the trigger. It is also very comfortable and the wrist wrap has yet to come loose. Shooting at 57lbs of pull the wrist harness does not stretch or move around. The shooting mechanism has remained with the same amount of play as when first taken out of the box. I have compared it to my friend's 45 dollar caliper release and I see no difference except that his has a bend in the caliper arm for comfort. It has worked flawlessly from my first shoot to today. It is very durable. I have been in the woods with it a few times and slipped and fell onto it on soft and rocky ground, with no ill effect except some scratches. The curved trigger (straight in picture) allows for comfortable finger placement and feel.

I have a TruFire release as well as two of these Allen Company releases. For the price, the Allen release is a really good buy and works really well. The trigger is fairly light so you have to be aware of this when you draw your bow. If you always put your trigger finger behind the trigger (and press on it) as you draw back, you'll never have a misfire.
The strap isn't as nice as the TruFire and this is why I gave it 4 stars. The strap requires a bit more tweaking to get it on your wrist properly as it has two Velcro straps and you have to put both on to secure the wrist band. The first Velcro strap gets the release onto your wrist allowing you to adjust the fit and how tight you want it around your wrist - it's two pieces instead on one continuous strap. Then the second strap goes around this strap and slides through a buckle to ensure the release is securely fastened to your wrist. The TruFire is one single continuous strap with one Velcro connection. It's much faster to get on and off your wrist. The Allen release only has one length. There is no length adjustment so if you have small hands, this may not be a good release for you. The Allen release does have a swiveling head so it can rotate freely when clipped onto your bow string. This is a nice touch. I have used the release three times now and it's worked flawlessly. For the money, this is a pretty good release.

Ok let me start off by warning everyone that this release is VERY sensitive! Being new to archery and this being the first time using a release, my 1st shot I touched the trigger to my cheek and released early and lets just say my arrow is in orbit someplace over the great state of California lol. That aside once I was used to it it is great. Very comfortable and reliable and the cost is about half of other releases of the same type. I highly recommend.

I used to shoot compound bows about 20 years ago and just recently got back to owning one over the holidays. I was a bit skeptical about the trigger releases but decided to try it anyway. I went with the Allen based on reviews and price.I am extremely surprised at how easy it was to transition to the trigger from a traditional draw. The trigger is very light, but you can prevent misfires by using good shooting habits and practice. I am more than pleased with the results and how much easier it makes shooting. My bow is set at 65# draw and this is working flawlessly so far. The design is extremely comfortable and easy to place on your wrist. The draw is very comfortable and the release is just flawless. I find this trigger to be an extremely good value at price and quality.

I have used many Tru-Fire releases in the past and decided to switch it up. I shoot in my basement for fun occasionally so mis-fires are definately not wanted. I put 50 arrows on the target right after delivery and for the price, I have no complaints. Strap is a bit cheap, but effective and the release works great!

Just got this as my first wrist release. It's comfortable, cheap, and hasn't misfired yet. The trigger is very very light. Pulls back perfectly, my bow is set to around 80 lbs. Seems like it should be pretty durable.

The product works great, I've used it for a while now and I never had a mis-fire while using it. The clamp is very strong and the trigger is very gentle, the only negative I could say about this product was that it had too many safety velcro straps.

Exactly what I was looking for - an inexpensive release for a novice archer. The trigger is a bit quick, as others have noted, but I have no experience with anything else. Seems well made, and I won't feel bad if it falls apart since it was so reasonably priced.

This works as well as other releases I've tried that cost more than double the price. This item works pretty well for the cost. I went to an archery store to try other releases. The fancy ones allow you to adjust the tension in the trigger and allow adjustability with the length. This one you'd have to cut down the shaft then replace the tube to shorten it. I have pretty small hands and it was difficult to get my finger on it so i had to fab a way to shorten it. For most people this will be fine. It has a hair trigger but it's something you get used to and I like how crisp it is when you release it. Make sure your fingers are behind the trigger when drawing the bow and don't put a finger on the trigger until ready to fire. the strap has two velcro sections you put on. One to place on the wirst, another to tighten.
