Customer Reviews

They are very light, comfortable and work well.

They didn't fit at all for me this way (I couldn't get the orientation of the ear pieces right).

I used a pair of these at the range and they are great!

It's rather important to understand that this does NOT completely block out sounds. Good if you want to hear someone scream to you, or the kids hollering when they get home from school, or the dog barking. Bad if you want complete, tomb-like quiet.

The package clearly states that the overhead plastic has a canal in it that conducts sounds. It mutes them, but they still make it to your ears. In fact, there are holes at the ears to allow sound to come in from the black overhead piece. So, what are they good for? As someone else noted, they drown out droning of airplanes, machinery, clocks, computers, etc. I have them on right now snugly and tight as the instructions say, and I can still hear the keyboard clicks, but not so much the clock or the computer hum or cars passing outdoors. If my cell phone rang in the next room, I'd still hear it (but faintly).

So, these are great when you still want some degree of hearing... my son plays the guitar in a band, and this cuts the drums. Some who work in a cubicle at work might use it. It's extremely lightweight, causes no head pain at all, and is ratchet adjustable to head size (so you need not resize it every time you use it, like headphones). I own at least 6 different headphone/earphones for noice suppression, and these are far and away the most comfortable. I could wear them for hours.

If you want extreme quiet, see my reviews on two great products: the Bilsom Thunder 3 and the Peltor H10A.

Have a wonderful day,

I wasn't sure if I would like this product or not. I have used it 6 times now on the range and am very pleased with the performance. It definitely muffles the gun noise and still allows easy conversation with whoever is around you. You forget you have them on sometimes because they are so lightweight.

This is my 3rd set of these Allen Sound Sensor headphones, I like them a lot. I keep one in the glove box, one in the range bag and one in my pistol case so I can make sure that I always have hearing protection with me. They fold very flat and do not take up much room. They also don't "make" your ears sweat. Make sure you follow the instructions for installing (putting) them on your head as it does make a difference.

As I stated in the video, I know Amazon would have taken them back if I was not happy, I'm not that concerned, but I wanted others to know that they are 26NNR not 28NNR.

Edit. It appears that Amazon has changed the description on the product to show 26NNR.

If you read the directions and put them on properly this ear protection is outstanding. They are quieter than other versions of regular muffs that I have and they allow rifle shooting without any hinderance to your cheek weld. To put them on properly you place them in your ears with the band above the top of your head and while keeping slight pressure on the sides of device, where it goes into your ear, roll the band forward toward your eyebrows and then back again toward the top of your head. This will corkscrew the foam tips into your ear for a snug fit. Getting the proper seal is easy and takes 2 seconds. I'm buying more because all my friends keep begging to swap with me when they shoot because their muffs bang into the side of their stock.

These low-pro hearing protectors by 'Allen Co' are great for anything that requires ear protection. I have used them indoors and out for pistol and rifle shooting, working at the airport with loud jet engines, and even at home to block out the noise so I could get a good nap! These are very light weight, comfortable, and affordable. Buy a couple pairs, one to keep at work, and another for home!

Pros:
Light weight
Low-Profile
Comfortable (comes with extra foam ear pieces)
Adjustable
Great noise reduction rating(28db)
Versatile
Durable

Cons:
They weren't free

Bought two pairs, one for my husband, one for me. Use out at the range and they are the first very comfortable pair of ear protection we have used. Muffles sounds from the guns excellent yet can still carry on a conversation with them on. Perfect.

I bought this with my Wife's referral and since she is usually right, I bought it.
Well with this ear protection on, you can still hear the range officer or more importantly your wife speaking to you at the gun range.

The quality is great + they give you extra ear foam pieces for when you don"t remember to clean your ears.

Small will work for me. Having used larger ear covers on the range was difficult to say the least. I had a real problem getting my check and eyes in the correct position for a good scope view. I have even worn the battery operated noise supressor muffs and still felt uncomfortable and slightly feeling vunerable with my surroundings.

Now for the good news. The Allen protection set folds like a pair of glasses and fits in my weapons bag easily, not to mention that they leave room for items I truly need at the range. There are a total of six foam tips that come with the package. Two are on the unit and four more are spares. I bought the orange and the black. One set is for my wife and one set is for me. She gets to pick the color she wants and I will gladly wear whichever one she does not use. But wait, there is more: they fit comfortably around my neck after leaving the range to make an ammunition purchase from my gun shop.

Big things can come in small packages.
