Allen Company Windproof Magnum Umbrella (Oakbrush, 60-Inch)

I really like this item but the "ribbons" for securing it to the tree are each about a foot too short on both sides. I wrote the company about this weeks ago but to date they have not replied. Pretty sorry customer service, IMO.

I used it yesterday for the first time. It kept me fairly dry during a 2 hour long 1-2" downpour. It's not big enough to keep you entirely dry but if my boots get wet I don't care because they're waterproof.

The downside to the design is the main arm that screws into the tree. It didn't bite as well as I would hope into the tree so I had some trouble getting it installed. The little plastic piece you have to hold onto to turn the arm kept slipping so that didn't help either. I ended up getting half the screw into the tree which worked well enough. For the price I paid, I would still get another if I needed one.

This is my first unbrella blind and I am very happy with it. I have only used it one time, but it held up great. I took it out spring turkey hunting a week ago and it worked great as a blind and kept my dry as a rain shower hit when I was walking out of the woods. here are some observations:

Pros;
- really cheap on AMAZON, same thing at Bass Pro was over 35 dollars!
- Camo pattern blends in well with woods.
- comes with screw and pins to attach to trees
- Quiet in the wind.
- easy to raise and break down
- camo bag to store everything
- light
- small - will fit into pack.


Cons:
- in high winds rods will bend
- Tree straps are not long enough for really thick trees that I like to sit against.

Overall amazing value for the price. It folds up small and will fit in a backpack easily. So far it has worked well in both the blind and cover positions. Great item for a casual hunter like myself!

This stand umbrella has kept me bone dry and in the stand at least a dozen times. Really great for muzzleloader hunting when keeping dry is critical. Unlike other umbrella stands this one can be tilted when needed so it works even in wind blown downpours. During a recent hunting trip to the Mississippi Delta I stayed warm and dry in my stand using this stand umbrella. In contrast my son-in-law who didn't have a stand umbrella was wet, cold and miserable. Best $20 I've spent on a hunting accessory in a long time.

I bought this for my bow hunt trip to Illinois. I put the umbrella up as soon as I got in the tree. The mounting bracket was made out of cheap steel and very flimsy.The snaps were improperly mounted on the straps and did not secure the umbrella adequately. The quality control is terrible. Dont waste your money!!!!! You would be very lucky if you were able to use this more than once. It is pure JUNK!

Glad to have found this hard to find item last minute on amazon.com Most stores were sold out due to the wet hunting season we had this year.

I had the chance to use my umbrella this past weekend. There was a steady rain with gusty winds. It performed great. It withstood the wind gusts, and I stayed dry. I am very happy with it. It does allow some water to run down the tree. So you can't be lazy and lean back against the tree.
