Worth every cent!, January 28, 2010
This review is from: Allen Edmonds Men's Kendall Plain Toe Oxford (Apparel)
The shoe looks beautiful, fits perfectly with their US sizing charts (don't know about the accuracy of the other other charts so wont comment). The leather has a beautiful shine and looks and feels like a very posh dress shoe. The inside of the shoe is a firm but soft padding which is wonderful since the middle of my foot is arched a bit, it is also a plush red (if that matters). Looks exactly as shown in the pictures. Comes in a box and two cloth bags to hold each shoe in. The makers -Allen Edmonds- quality is matched only by Alden shoes, both brilliant, so if you own either one, you know what I'm talking about.

Allen Edmonds NEVER dissapoints., February 2, 2012
This review is from: Allen Edmonds Men's Kendall Plain Toe Oxford (Apparel)
While Allen Edmonds is not as trendy or fashion forward as some other shoe makers, there is one thing you can always count on. A quality, timeless product that will never go out of style. I own over 5 different pairs of AE's and have never been disappointed with any of them. Most, if not all of them, have a spongy cork on underneath the sole that provides cushion and comfort for your feet. It makes wearing these shoes almost like wearing a comfortable pair of sneakers. If you're looking for a plain patent leather oxford to go with your tuxedo, then this is your shoe.
Pros:
- Great leather quality. The shine on these is much better than the pictures.
- Comfortable. Due to the good technology in the sole these are more comfortable than some sneakers.
- Quality construction. This is a product that will last you a long time if properly cared for. You can also send them back to AE to be reconditioned for a small fee.
- Minimalistic design. Exactly what you want in a formal shoe.
Cons:
This isn't really a con, but if you're not a person that attends black-tie events frequently you may not be able to justify spending $325 on a shoe you're going to wear less than a handful of times. However, if you're like me, and you are wearing these 12+ times a year then you will definitely get your monies worth.
I purchased these on sale from an Amazon retailer for 50% off so I'm sure you can find these a lot cheaper than full price if money is a big factor in your decision.
*NOTE* Invest in some good shoe cedar shoe tree's. You should be buying shoe trees for all your nice shoes, but especially for patent leather oxfords.
