In the words of someone else at Nordstrom's "These are the shoes, no matter what anyone says, these are the ones". It is so true. They look great, and feel better. Take the plunge, spend the cash, you'll love yourself later.

These are perhaps the most comfortable shoes I have ever purchased. These shoes are true to fit and for those looking for a narrow size this style can be found in A, B or C widths, at least from Allen Edmonds if they are not available here. Actually, the width range is from A to EEE but B & C widths start at size 8 and A widths at size 9. I normally wear size 9C but tried the 9B as I was able to get them at a very good price. The 9B fits comfortably snug (more so than a C width at the arch but not tight across the toes) and therefore offers great arch support.

The leather is top grade and takes a great shine. The style is timeless so they offer a sound purchase so long as you are not wanting to change with every fashion trend that comes along. The cushioning is hot cork but the shoes do not need additional padding because of the superior design. When walking I feel a sense of balance that I have not had with other brands as everything seems to be cut to precise proportions.

The style is great for business / dress occasions but can be dressed down with chinos etc. The perforated cap toe gives a look that is between a wing tip and a regular cap toe. The Strand now has a MSRP of $325.00 so anything less is a deal.

It's this simple: Extremely well-made, classic American shoes from one of the best known names in men's shoes.

The strand design is one of AE's best, IMO. You just can't go wrong.

These shoes will oulast your ipod, ipad, and every other gadget you over-spend on. These shoes are an investment in your wardrobe and yourself. Purchase now and do not look back. You will be glad you did.

These are the best shoes I have ever owned. I own Cole Haan, Hugo Boss, Clarks, and Gordon Rush - all of those shoes feel cheap now. The Strand's are comfortable, look amazing, and are exceptionally high quality. I am so impressed with Allen Edmond that I intend to replace my lesser shoes with AE over the next few years. AE do go on sale (I purchased mine for a little under $200), so if the price is steep, just keep your eye open for sales. Also, I recommend you splurge on a nice shoe horn (like a 19" Shoe Horn), and a good set of cedar shoe trees, these shoes deserve to be treated well. Highly recommended!!

I love these shoes and they are very stylish. They are expensive but worth every penny plus they are top quality and made in the USA. One minor complaint is that they are a bit hard to break-in.

These are very classy shoes and are very comfortable to wear. The quality of Allen Edmond's is top notch. The accent leather work is not too flashy and goes well with a dark suit or dressed up blue jeans. Allen Edmond's shoes can also be sent back to the factory and made like new again for about $100 bucks, so these shoes will last many, many years to come. I have a separate pair of brown leather shoes that I've had for about 6 years now and they still look and feel great. Will definitely be buying more from Allen Edmonds.

Buy quality and only cry once. The cost of owning nice shoes is much lower in the long run when you consider you won't have to replace them every year.

Purchased 20 years ago and last year finally sent them in for recrafting. Couldn't discard a shoe which lasted so long and was so comfortable. (Now that is super GREEN!) Came back with new leather sole, cork midsole, heels and redyed. Look new! Look just like the picture in this ad. Most comfortable shoes I own. I don't do the career office work thing anymore. So I've started to use them for my daily morning walk with my dog. Why not. They are the most comfortable shoes I own. Any product which looks and performs like these shoes deserves nothing less than a 10 star rating.

I bought these as a Christmas present for my insanely fussy husband. Buying shoes with him is like pulling teeth, and I was taking a really big risk getting those without having him try them on. But they were a replacement for a very similar-looking pair (different make) he wore out to shreds and wouldn't throw away (they got really comfortable, I guess ;), so I knew he'd at least like the look. The surprise was how much he liked the fit as well. With the old shoes, it took him quite a while to break them in and start liking wearing them. These, he loved right away. And that's a first.

Pros:
- beautiful, timeless look
- great quality leather
- nice little boost from the heel (don't laugh, it works for men as well as women - makes his behind look great)
- perfect fit (once you work out what your exact foot size is)

Cons:
- price (but then, the pros are worth it)
- fiddly lacing (but looks oh-so-sophisticated)

I hate to sound like a broken record, compared to the other commenters, but it's true - these are fabulous shoes! They are by far my all-time favorites. I've owned mine almost 20 years.

The fit is perfect, the leather supple, the sole long-lasting and flexible, yada yada yade.

But $325? I got mine at Nordstom Rack for $100 but that was VERY VERY Lucky.

Its true..buy American means a premium price. Its true, these shoes will last 10 yrs with basic care and a re-sole. Its true, with some time and effort you invest in "bulling" these shoes you will see a mirror shine that makes them look new even when they are a decade old. I say this from experience, not optimism.
Its true, stick with a classic style and your shoes wont look stupid in 3 yrs when the style is as out of date as eyebrow jewelry and 5" wide ties.

So the cliche applies with shoes as much as anything else. You get what you pay for.
