this book disects what the beats (especially allen )were trying to say. it reviews the existential angst of the beats as well as their spiritual search.sometimes it goes overboard trying to dredge up ideas that may not have existed but it seperates meat from bone and sinew to find the heart of the beat movement and one of its chief mentors and protaganists allen
