2.0 out of 5 stars Allergy-free but hard as rock.
It is impossible to find a protein bar without dairy or any kind of nut in it. The closest I get is a notice at the end of the ingredient label stating that the bar "may have traces of dairy, peanuts, tree nuts" in it. Unfortunately when you have kids with severe dairy, peanut, and nut allergies, a "maybe"doesn't cut it.

I was really excited when I found out about AllerEnergy, a company whose products are made in a dedicated allergen-free (including gluten-free) facility. Made with brown rice and fortified with vitamins and minerals, AllerEnergy Bars do not contain any of the most common allergens (wheat, milk, egg, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish). In addition, all AllerEnergy products are free of corn, sesame, sunflower, and potato products.

I used Subscribe & Save (had to use my laptop to sign up; not accessible from my smart phone) to save money and eagerly awaited my first box of chocolate chip bars. When they arrived, I immediately ate one hoping that my search for a safe and good protein bar was over.

The bar may be safe but it wasn't very good.

The bar was a hunk of a piece, about 3/4 of an inch thick. It would be tricky for my kids to get their little mouths around but it wouldn't be bad if the bar were soft enough. The bar, however, was really, really hard. I couldn't break the bar without fearing that I'd do some serious damage to my teeth. And after I did manage to break off a chunk with my mouth, I was worried that the hard, sticky rice would either stay glued in the grooves of my molars or rip my fillings out as I tried to grind it down.

Overall, I am pretty disappointed. There needs to be more safe options out here! I'm sad I won't be recommending this product on our GetAllergyWise blog for food-allergic families.

I've looked everywhere to find a peanut free energy/protein bar for my son who has peanut allergy. Not until I searched the internet did I find AllerEnergy. My son loves them. I purchased the chocolate chip which tastes like a candy bar. It is not a hard, crunchy type bar but more of a Rice Krispy texture, loaded with vitamins and minerals and 32 grams of carbs for active growing kids or active adults. There are 3 grams of protein and only 1 gram of fat, no fillers, all natural. This is a wholesome and safe snack I can depend on. Thank you amazon.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value and wonderful for allergy sufferers!, October 3, 2008

I have tried these before since my son is allergic to peanuts. It is hard to find anything that is tasty for quick on the go snacks. This is a super price on Amazon, wonderful these are being offered for the subscribe program. Both of my kids love these. The only reason they did not get 5 stars is that they come apart and crumble soooo easily. Hard for a 2 1/2 yr old to hold on to. That is my only complaint. Wonderful flavor and a great option for allergic folks.

These Energy bars are awesome. I have several food allergies. This bar is great for me. It helps me meet nutritional needs when I am not hungry but have to eat because of meds. If you have food allergies, this is something you need to check into. I highly recommend these bars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great GF snack, less sweet and caloric than most GF snacks, still filling and yummy, January 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great for traveling. Buy a box and put in suitcase. Doesn't take up much room. I even bring internationally. Not too sweet like many GF things. No nuts so fills you up well but less calories. Blueberry is least sweet flavor but still very yummy.

I have practically lived on these when on travel for work. I can't afford to eat anything I'm not 100% sure won't get me sick. They pack great and are always there for my back-up. They taste FABULOUS if you have a gluten-restricted diet- such a treat! Thank you so much AllerEnergy!!!

My kids love these. They have multiple allergies, including dairy, so they LOVE the chocolate chips! They taste just like "regular" dairy chips. Great source of vitamin C!!!!

I tried to like these. I really wanted to like them. No thank you. I gave them to a local food bank. Hopefully someone else with a special diet will like them. I enjoy many health foods. However, I just couldn't get rid of the idea that these smelled a bit like many weeds I've pulled from my yard.
