3.0 out of 5 stars Great, but it used to be $69. Whats up with the 65% price hike?
I bought the queen size Allerzip mattress protector in February of '09 for $69.99, and it has been great. After putting this on my mattress, and of course having an exterminator come in to do his thing, I started to notice immediately that I wasn't getting bitten anymore. So it's definitely a quality product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased..., January 16, 2011
After much research and comparison, we decided on this mattress encasement for our deep queen set. We were skeptical about the fit but were very pleased on a number of levels with this product upon installing it on our bed. This is a quality product-the materials, the fit, the structure-all top of the line. We did not find anything that disappointed us; in fact the product exceeded our expectations in every way. It was easy to put on and the fit was absolutely perfect-no sagging or gaps-feels like a set of nice pajamas for your mattress!!! A tip for putting the cover on-wash and dry before putting the cover on and make sure there are at least two people to do the job...standing the mattress on end and going from the top down made it very easy to put on. We do not have bedbugs but it just seemed the smart thing to do considering the increase in bedbug activity in this country-in any case it keeps the mattress clean, dry, and looking like new. Obviously, we are more than pleased with this product! FYI-keep an eye out for the little plastic ties included with the encasement to secure the zipper-they are small and white and hard to see in the bag-we almost threw them away...

Now it is 2 months later, and my roommate is getting a new mattress so I told him to pick up one of these Allerzip protectors and then we saw the new price...$114.99! (used to be $69.99 on Amazon)

So the price has skyrocketed from $69 to $114 in 2 months?! Allerzip, you make an excellent product (it is great, seriously), but what is going on here? A 65% price hike seems a little steep.

After we realized we had bedbugs and doing enough research on line, we had our apartment sprayed, all clothing tossed into a hot dryer, and new mattress were bought. Not long after we found a "guest" roaming around our living room sofa.

They were quickly killed and these mattress covers were bought, both beds were treated with a spray of 90% Isopropyl Alcohol (don't do this if there are smokers in your home or at least air out the room right afterwards)or you can use a bedbug spray from a company called "Hot Shot" kills them on contact(Die! MF DIE!!) then covered with the Bedding encasement. We also treated the sofa and loveseat, and all sheets and blankets every few days....just to be "safe"

Happy to say no new bites = peaceful night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bed Bug Free!, September 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this mattress cover because I live in New York and we are having a bed bug epidemic in the city. My friends who live in a brand new condo have found these nasty critters in their building. I did some research, compared to other products out there, and this one seemed to be the best. Its made of fabric, not plastic, so no crinkling when you move. On the inside there is a thin plastic-like layer for protection from liquids. The top has a terry cloth cover. Its not very soft, but hey, you put a sheet over it anyway. I have king size mattress and it took my husband and I about five minutes to put in on, just follow the directions. I highly recommend this mattress cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars High quality - nice feel - does the job, December 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been diagnosed with dust mite allergies and advised to cover my mattress and box-spring. I am very satisfied with this item. I was concerned it would be like something from a hospital rather than a hotel. I am relieved that it is very much like the latter: satin, high quality, upscale.

The installation instructions are comprehensive and easy to follow. The zipper goes all the way round which makes things easier - it certainly glides very smoothly. For all those like me who prefer to buy things made in the USA you will be as disappointed as I was to know that the tag says MADE IN CHINA.

Two negative comments: the warranty reads like a legal agreement - not sure they ever want (or are obligated) to honor their 10 year commitment. Also their literature says that only 70% of bed bugs live in the mattress - you could buy this product and still have other things to do to remedy your situation

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Needed, December 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had a small bed bug infestation and I took care of it. I used the cans as well as sprays to get rid of them and it did the trick. I needed a mattress protection in case they ever come back. I looked on Amazon and found this item.

I bought two of these as I have two twin size beds. I have 2 different twin mattresses: one is higher than the other. The encasement fit both mattresses easily. I followed the instructions to wash them and they're easy to clean. I put them in the washer and then put them in the dryer just for a little while. I hung them to fully dry them. I put them on and they are definitely waterproof. When you have a bedsheet over them and sleep over it, you don't hear any noises or sound from the friction of the sheet and encasement. There is a terry-cloth topping on the encasement so it prevents the movement. I haven't had any bed bugs since (and I hope I never will again) so I can't say if they keep them out of the mattress, but it seems like it definitely would keep them out.

4.0 out of 5 stars So Far So Good!, July 5, 2009
This review is from: AllerZip Waterproof Bed Bug Proof Zippered Bedding Encasement, Full Size (7"-12" Deep)
I purchased this item for my adult son who was having problems with bed bugs. He couldn't sleep in his bed without waking with many itchy bites. After covering his mattress and box spring this product the first night, he didn't have any problems with sleeping or being bitten. It's been a few weeks now and so far, so good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy duty, November 28, 2010

I've used allergy covers for 20 years. This is the best one I've found yet! If you suffer from dust mite allergies, only this type of mattress cover that fully seals around the mattress (and box spring)is going to do anything for you. This one is really heavy duty. We've used it now for almost 6 months around our box springs (2 Twn XL for our King box springs), but you can tell from the fabric that this really isn't going to tear or get little holes (especially around seams) like the other products usually do over time. Easy to wash and dry-great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent encasement, February 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered two of these for beds in our home. The mattress encasement is well made and overlaps to provide good protection. The zipper is well sealed and they provide a tie wrap to secure it.

It has a terry cloth like top and a satin type stretchy material for around the sides. It is comfortable to sleep on. I had no trouble getting it on my deep mattress at all.

Sleep Central had the best price and shipped very quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleep in peace!, February 16, 2011
This review is from: AllerZip Waterproof Bed Bug Proof Zippered Bedding Encasement, Full Size (7"-12" Deep)
I travel very often, and it is only a miracle that I haven't had problems for a long time. Last summer, after volunteering at a teen summer camp for a week, I found some interesting black bugs on my bed (in retrospect, I don't think they were bed bugs, but it was enough to freak me out). Now I know why all the mattresses at the camp were covered in plastic..

I started doing some research on bedbugs and was amazed that supposedly they can live up to 18 months without eating!! So even if I thought I was rid of everything, there may be a few just hanging out and dieting until I thought the coast was clear. My bed was already on risers (those plastic ones that hold the bed frame, nothing fancy) so I pulled the bed away from the wall about 5"(who knew bedbugs love wood??) and threw all my sheets and blankets in the dryer on high heat for about 2 hours to make sure they were bug free. Not long after that, I saw another type of bug - so I was DONE! I hadn't had a really good night's sleep in over 6 weeks. So I purchased the AllerZip Mattress encasement and the boxspring encasement also. It wasn't terrible to do, and these babies seal tight. I also bought a couple of pillow case covers, and so if anything was in there, they are IN THERE, and can't get out.

From the first night I had them on, it was awesome. I could sleep in peace. I bought some bed bug spray (one that Amazon sells that is safe to use - I wanted to protect myself from bugs, not poison myself), which I sprayed on the carpets and the baseboard near the head of the bed (I don't have a headboard, but I would have disconnected that anyway), and I also bought diatomaceous earth from Amazon, which is extremely safe, and sprinkled it between the mattress and the boxspring AND I filled up all the risers with it. Diatomaceous earth is simply shells crushed into a powder form, but one website said that if any bugs crawl through it, it cuts them up and they bleed to death. So I had attacked the carpeting and the baseboards, the mattress and the boxspring, and now the only way they could get onto the bed is to crawl up the risers and then up the legs of the bed. Now they would die that way too. So I am good to go! Some other encasements got no-so-great reviews, and I didn't want to chance it just to save a few bucks. AllerZip is awesome.

OH- ONE MORE THING!! Once you have made your bed an oasis from critters, DON'T put anything on the bed OR sit on the bed with street clothes! Big-name stores, movie theaters, libraries and doctor's offices have all had bed bug infestations. You could put brand new clothes on the bed before you hang them up, or you could sit down on the bed after seeing a movie or being in a doctor waiting room, and they could wind up on the bed and you'd have to start all over again. And of course NEVER put your suitcase on the bed to unpack (which is what I ALWAYS used to do, but will never do again!!) - I unpack in my basement now, where the washer is, and just throw everything in there. Good luck!
