UPDATE~*~*~WHY TO CHOOSE THESE VS OTHER EYE DROPS~Also tips for dry eyes~*~*~,
This review is from: Allergan Refresh Plus Lubricant Eye Drops Single-Use Vials - 100 ct. (Health and Beauty)
**UPDATE IS AT THE BOTTOM**
I am 30 years old and have suffered from Dry eyes for more than 10 years, at one point my eyes were Severely Dry...to the point that when I woke up in the morning my eyes had zero moisture, literally, my eye lids would stick to my eye, gross I know but you get the point. As a result I have used MANY, many different brands of eye drops over the years. If your eyes are severely dry then you should use drops that are preservative free because they can sting and become more irritated from preservatives, that is what always happened with me. If your eyes are irritated that can cause tears and your tears can dry out your eyes even more(I know that sounds wrong but it is true)Also, if you read most eye drops or ask your eye Dr, you are only supposed to use certain eye drops a certain number of times per day. Most of the eye drops I had been using I could use and less than 30 minutes later my eyes would be dry/irritated again. The Refresh Plus my eye Dr said that I could use them as many times a day as I wanted to and that right after Lasik they would help my eyes heal. *******TIPS FOR HELPING SEVERE DRY EYES******* *Flaxseed Oil-take 1000mg 3x a day -months ago I decided I wanted to get Lasik but feared my eyes were too dry. After much research and looking at the best Lasik Dr's(in my area) website for dry eyes I learned to take flaxseed oil for dry eyes. I started taking it and within a week I noticed my eyes were more moist and I took it for a while before my Lasik consultation. I passed everything, my eyes were somewhat dry but I could get Lasik. After my Lasik consulation there was a time I quit taking the Flaxseed and my eyes began to get dry again so now I make sure to take them everyday. *Eye Plugs-about 2 years ago my eye Dr put plugs in my tear ducts to keep moisture in(my tears were only staying on my eye at that time 1-2 seconds) the first plugs he put in were literally like a plug and I kept accidently scratching them out, I think I went through at least 5 plugs before my eye Dr put in a permanent silicone plug, this actually goes down inside of your tearduct & expands so you can NOT feel it and it can NOT come out. I definately recommend the silicone permanent plugs, if you have dry eyes call your eye Dr and ask about them. *Night Eye Ointment-I used Bausch & Lomb Moisture Eyes PM, it is a little tube and was expensive but it lasts a long time and really did help with my severe dry eyes, I was no longer waking up with my eyes lids stuck to my eye. I actually used less then it says and it worked just fine. *Humidifier-about a year ago my husband was sick and we put a humidifier in our room for several days, my eyes did seem to be less dry when I woke up. My Lasik Dr also told me to use one if I had any problems with dry eyes. I had my Lasik on Jan 7, 2010. My Lasik Dr said for 6 months to use eye drops at least 4x a day but absolutely no bottled tears, you can only use Refresh Plus or Thera-Tears. I've been using Refresh Plus and they keep my eyes moist for a long period of time. In the past I was using eye drops several times an hour but with the Refresh Plus I am normally only using them 4x a day, sometimes more(like before and after I take a shower since that makes my eyes irritated) So it is the winter which makes eyes more dry and I have had Lasik and my eyes are more dry than most people but thanks to my silicone plugs, daily flaxseed oil and Refresh Plus my eyes look and feel great. So you see there ARE solutions to help dry eyes, Good Luck : ) ****UPDATE****April 25, 2010 I just had a lasik enhancement on April 22 and was running out of Refresh Plus. My husband was at a large chain store and asked if he could pick up the generic brand(equate) because they were several bucks cheaper and said "compare to Refresh Plus" on the box so I said yes. STICK WITH THE REFRESH PLUS!!!! The equate ones do not have a cap that you can put back on so you have to throw them away as opposed to the Refresh Plus that do have a cap you can place back on and use them several times. The equate dropper is a pain, many times you are squeezing air bubbles out as opposed to drops even though it is full. And most importantly, the Refresh Plus definately make a far superior eye drop..."compare to Refresh Plus...well I did and I can say they are NOT the same"! Since I still had some Refresh Plus, I have been using both drops and I can tell a HUGE difference. With the equate ones, it really seems like I put in the drops and right after my eye is feeling irritated or dry again. But when I use the Refresh Plus, my eyes stay feeling moist & not irritated. So, I'm sure there is a reason my Lasik Dr says to stick with Refresh Plus or Optive, they are definately better. Also, Optive drops(sensitive-single use) do work really well...they are thicker than Refresh so they are good for really dry or irritated eyes, however, you can NOT use them while you are driving because they will make your eyes temporarily blurry(you CAN use Refresh Plus while driving, they don't affect your vision since they're not as thick). But if your eyes are dry when you first wake up or you want to use them when you can give yourself a few minutes of blurry eyes, they do work really well. I actually recomment getting both types of drops if you have severe dry eyes.

Best I have found for post-Lasik discomfort,

I had Lasik surgery about ten years ago and have regularly suffered from dry eyes as a result, particularly at night. Over the past few months the discomfort seems to have gotten worse, perhaps from constant computer use. I have tried several eye drop brands and this one is by far the best I have found.
I was using Tears Naturale, which did an okay job, but Allergan Refresh Plus is significantly better. It not only provides better immediate relief, but it also seems to last much longer. It states that the containers are for one-time, single use, but they can be re-closed and used again. I can get about three applications out of one container. I suppose the main thing is to use them quickly once they are opened since they have no preservatives, which is a plus as most Optometrists urge you to use eye drops without preservatives. The containers that come with Tears Naturale can also be re-closed and used multiple times and are, by the way, larger and therefore contain more fluid, but they are also less effective. I highly recommend giving this product a try. Good price from Amazon, too.

I bought these first after my PRK eye surgery at CVS. The CVS 60-pack was about the same price as the 100-pack on Amazon Prime, so order #2 went to Amazon.
Then I got Tears Naturale Free just to mix it up a bit, and WOW those were so much better. Complement for this product: each vial is resealable, allowing you to use it 2-3 times per eye Shortcomings of this product: - small volume per dropper relative to Tears Naturale Free (which lets you use it 4-5 times) - dropper doesn't always surrender every drop of liquid - other brands feel better to my eye
