Book Description

November 1, 2004

Multistakeholder processes are now recognized as crucial public participation tools in a variety of fields, including health, housing, community economic development, transportation and more. Nonprofits in these fields are frequently being asked to collaborate with community and government but lack guidance for doing so. This book—outlining why and how to develop such organizations, how they can be most effective, and the special nature of power and leadership involved—is the only book available to facilitate this process.

Joan M. Roberts is an award-winning organizational development consultant who provides training workshops on governance and community development. She has over 20 years experience designing and facilitating multistakeholder processes in housing, health promotion, municipal land use, and community development. She lives in Toronto.

If you are involved with transorganizational systems (like associations, trade groups etc.) this is a very valuable resource. It helps you understand the dynamics of such groups and foresees the challenges you will have.
