The following study is primarily concerned with the unifying and destructive forces that affected the Anglo-American relationship between 1938 and 1944, as those involved searched for a strategic solution to the war in Europe. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill's methods of leadership are compared and their personal relationship investigated. 4.0 out of 5 stars allies are difficult entities, April 28, 1998

This review is from: Allies in Conflict: Anglo-American Strategic Negotiations, 1938-44 (Studies in Military and Strategic History) (Hardcover)
Steve Weiss, a Visiting Research Fellow in War Studies at Kings College London and Lecturer on Military History with the Univ. of Maryland's Euro.Division has written an excellent account of the problems encountered between the American and British military negotiators at the highest level. Having served as a first scount in an American infantry rifle squad during World War II, he has brought all of his experience and study to bear on the subject that includes the search for a stragegy that would defeat the Germans in World War Two. His writing is clear, his military and diplomatic research expansive, and I recommend this coverage of critical events and important personages like Roosevelt and Churchill without reservation.
