My back is to the door way into my office. I usually leave the door opened while I am working. Sometimes I am concentrating and cannot hear anyone enter which startles me at times. This product alerts me when someone passes the arch way into my office. Since I am in a small office the chime was too loud so I placed bubble wrap around the speaker. I am however please with the item.

Not recommended. There is no sound adjustment button. You are stuck with a very loud chimer. Also, any change in light from well beyond the sight of the product will set it off. A shadow reflected off a wall will set it off. I'm experiencing many false alarms.

We purchased this even though a previous reviewer mentioned that it was too loud. We thought that would be no problem because our store can be very noisy and we need something loud enough to be able to hear. Well, it is TOO loud. With no volume control, this is a serious liability. We now need to look for an alternative.

We have returned this product. We purchased this to serve as an electronic receptionist for our office suite. The product has a number of tones that may be used for welcoming visitors, including "Old McDonald Had a Farm" and holiday tunes, most of which are quite long. Most of these are not useful for our office. After choosing a simple ring tone, we set up the item inside our door. The device worked for a day or so and then started going off for no apparent reason when no one entered our office. We tried it in a number of different locations and got the same result. The device is also quite loud, and you cannot regulate the volume. I would not recommend this item. When I indicated my interest in returning the item, a representative of the supplier recommended that I take the batteries out and re-try it. This worked for one day, and the next day, the device started going off randomly again.

We purchased this for our office, and are already sorry. As others have stated, it's too loud. It also has frequent false alarms, when nobody is anywhere near the thing. Defeats the purpose of having an alert when someone enters the office. We've tried it in various locations near the door, but it still chimes at random times (or we have a serious ghost infestation!) I don't recommend this to anyone, and am sorry I suggested it to my boss in the first place.

I use this to tell me when my mother is getting out of bed. She has dementia and is always startled by the music but I am thankful that I am being notified of her movements. I have it on the wall next to her bed.

I bought this for a gas station I was working at. My back would be towards the door a lot while I was stocking the shelves. Whenever someone came inside the store alone & quiet I didn't know it. This little item changed that!

Item works fine. Doors chimes are a little loud, not control of volumn. Took 2 weeks longer then was stated to receive.

This thing hasn't worked for me the way I expected. It needed light to work. That means unless I leave a light on all night, the alarm won't work as soon as it gets dark. The product description should have warned me about this. I would not have bought it had I known.
