John Horst does it again, another Five Star book. This book is a tour de force of a western, it has three story line woven together to make a seamless whole. It takes us from northern Arizona to deep into southern Mexico. It is a love story of old and new lovers and all done faultlessly. This a book you will read more than once, I know I did. Again thanks John.
I can hardly wait for the next one

Rave review! This author has brought us on a real journey, continuing on a timeline from The Mule Tamer, with new adventures, mysteries, suspense, and many new characters to know and to care about----all the while reminding us of past connections. The multiple plots and different story lines were very intriguing. Loved the compelling characters, with their individual personalities and goals. Allingham has brought them together without knowing that he has influenced their lives forever. The story continues to hold ones interest and wanting more. So well written and with an emphasis on the history of the region. I highly recommend this book and look forward to many more! I have found my new favorite author!

I love this Allingham character, again as with the other book by John Horst, multiple stories going on all at once, introduction of new characters--which I hope produce more books---easy, fast read. As I have said in previous reviews of his books, I am not a western story lover at all but I have truly enjoyed these books. I enjoy the characters, how he has several stories going on at the same time and yet is it very keep to follow. I feel like I personally know these characters by the way he describes them and brings them to life.

The story lines and characters in this book are more complex and intriguing than most westerns I've read. Multiple heros and plots are woven together into one great story! Horst easily blends interesting new characters into the lives and adventures of the men and women I've come to know and love in the series. If you are a fan of justice, and find it refreshing to see people get what they have coming to them then you will enjoy this book. It is a fast and easy read and is hard to put down once you begin!

John Horst has brought the East, West again with Desperate Ride. This is an excellent sequel to the first Allington. I enjoyed reading the book and found it hard to put down after I started. It has a great story line with a "WHO DONE IT" that is hard to figure out. There is much more action, suspense and some new characters I hope he will continue to use in other books. I know you will enjoy the story as I did. Good work John.

This was an excellent book. Mr. Horst brings the old west to life once again in a new series, Allingham; Desperate Ride. This is book 2 in the series and I hope not the last. It left me wanting more. It just can't end the way it did. There are new characters to follow and old characters to see what happens with them. If you love the old west, this is a series of books for you. Along with his first series, The Mule Tamer. Good job!

If you love a good story about good & evil set in the old west post civil war then read both books in this series. I can only hope there will be more
