I saw this show years ago in PBS. Couldn't stop laughing so when I saw the series at another establishment (wish I had used Amazon, could have saved a bunch), I purchased the entire series. It is still as funny as I had remembered from years ago. If you are going to buy series five, buy 1 thru 4 first. Although it is not necessary to enjoy the later shows, the storyline has a beginning, and if you have seen the first series, it makes it better.

The series has had it's ebbs and flows in quality. Season Five, Part One has to be the funniest season so far! I missed the departure of a couple of characters in season three, but the show was back in stride with this season. It is very very funny. The bizarre Herr Flick episodes have be trimmed and changed to make them funnier and less redundant. Jack Haig shines as LeClare and there are some very funny scenes where his schtick is stolen by a couple of the main characters. Marner and Siner shine in this season as well. The newer characters have settled in and add to the fun and enjoyment. I recommend it!

Very funny as usual Will probably get the rest of the series. You really don't have to see it in sequence. But it is better if you can.

Broad British Humour and immensely loveable characters make this series completely rewatchable. Right up there with Are You Being Served? and almost as great as the Honeymooners of Britcom: FAWLTY TOWERS

There's nothing to say about series five that is different from all the preceding ones other than the fact that it has more episodes and consequently gives twice the enjoyment. They are all absolutely wonderful.
I can't wait for the remaining four series to come out.

Now (finally!) presenting the cream of the crop, the best sitcom ever in DVD quality!!! You can't lose. Walk in, grab a snifter by the bar, and savor the delight. Soon you'll be speaking French like Officer Crabtree. A good doo to you!
