The kit is very useful, although the drive bolt (threaded rod) is a P.O.S.

I read the directions front to back, and no where does it state you cannot use an impact driver to turn the drive bolt. After receiving my kit, I immediately got to work on replacing the rear wheel bearing on my '99 Audi A4 Quattro. Every so often, I'd reverse the bolt and check to make sure the bearing was coming out, as it was, but after a while it seemed to not move much. I took the remover completely off and noticed the fine threads on the bolt AND in the nut were stripped. In the end, I decided to replace the bolt with a acme threaded rod and all my problems went away.

All-in-all: Kits great; bolt's not!

Sweet bearing press kit in a sturdy case...nice in case you often do mobile repair as I do. Since this kit is intended to remove press fit into knuckle type wheel bearings without removing the knuckle, make sure you DO NOT have BOLT ON hub assembly type. Next plan on a way to extract the hub to expose the bearing as this kit differs from the typical SPX/OTC Hubtamer / Hub Grappler, Ken Tool Hub-shark, Klann Automotive, in NOT having hub removal tooling nor inner race remover. You can often use a large bearing splitter or as I often do..a slide hammer with hub bracket to quickly (usually) slap out the hub. From here the kit goes to work like a Hubtamer. Just remember to locate & remove the inboard or outboard SNAP RING as the case may be to determine the direction for removal and always replace with a new snap ring for safety and follow all your specific automotive manufacturers service recommendations. Some newer German cars have a shear type bearing retainer as part of the bearing instead of snap ring type but I haven't had to do one yet.Some vehicles have an interference fit (typ. Ford/Merc.) on the cv axle spline so you may need tooling or improvise to push & pull the cv axle in & out of the hub. Find yourself an inexpensive new replacement hub before you begin and you can avoid wasting time removing the inner race from your old hub only to find the hub has spun in the race so it's not healthy to use again anyway. This kit can save you alot of money but if you are not careful pressing in the new bearing & hub you will be doing it again right then or within a few thousand miles. Work SMART & SAFE.

Worked as advertised, I had to replace front wheel bearings in my son's car. Without the press the front would have had to come apart and the bearing would have been pressed in and out. Invaluable time saver.
