This is definitely one of those few recordings I would want with me if I were stranded on a desert island.
Alma is sublimely beautiful, sad, and joyous. Many times I have been moved to tears by these compositions. Even though Gismonte is a renowned guitarist, this recording features piano (with a few hints of synthesizer dropped in very sparingly, to wonderful effect). Amazing, powerful music.

It is certainly one of Gismonti's best work of art. I am a big fan of Gismonti, but this specific album has his famous tunes!

That is Egberto's Soul,

I have many of his albuns on Lp and CD, but this is "The One". His best compositions are here, and they always move me a lot, even after 18 years of the original release on Lp. "Alma" is a portuguese word that means "Soul", and definitely this is Egberto's soul.
