3.0 out of 5 stars good variety of recipes but.. October 20, 2013

The chocolate cupcake recipe indicates on step 4 to fold in blueberries. The ingredient list does not call for blueberries. This makes me hesitant to try more recipes as almond flour is too pricey to have to discard because a recipe isn't written correctly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super book! June 16, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you don't know anything about almond flour, but would like to learn, this is the book for you, The first pages are devoted to teaching you all you need to know. Other than Almond flour and coconut oil, the recipes in this book use items pantries are usually stocked with such as honey, cinnamon, salt, etc. While the almond flour is a must, you can substitute the coconut oil with another fat, but why would you want to? Really. It's so readily available now. The recipes are easy and delicious and, although I have several almond flour cookbooks, this is quickly becoming my favorite. I was surprised by the number and variety of recipes in this book. The pumpkin spice pancakes were awesome and I am going to eventually try all of the recipes in this book. They are healthy and diabetic friendly. Great book!!!

    1.0 out of 5 stars information February 21, 2014

I was very disappointed that there was no information provided for carbs and calories. The recipes sounded good, but an awful lot of work to try and figure carbs.

The author has done a wonderful job in explaining the nutritional value and health benefits of Almond at the beginning of the book. Also included is the differences between almond flour vs wheat flour and how almond flour is beneficial to ones health. The recipes are low carb, gluten free recipes which are simple and diverse. The only problems I found was that there were a couple of typos (fried shrimp recipe - I think should have been 1 lbs raw shrimp not 1 tsp) and in the cinnamon pumpkin bread, in the preparation section coil should be oil) but I can see past these and highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to eliminate grain from their diet and looking at the gluten free lifestyle. Recommended for the whole family and I simply cant wait to give these recipes a try. In fact most of the recipes look amazing and will definitely work my way thru the recipes listed.

3.0 out of 5 stars good bood but missing vital info April 20, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really like this cookbook. Almond flour is a very versatile product and this book highlights that very well. One thing is missing ... The nutrition information. With that I would give this book 5 stars. Instead I am left to figure out the carbs and calories myself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good information about a great substitute for flour. February 12, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was surprised to find that ground almond flour is a direct substitute for regular wheat flour. My son is allergic to wheat, corn, soy and peanuts. So I am always searching for something new to fix for him and for it to be good and not just weird.

5.0 out of 5 stars An alternative to using flour November 14, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A totally new way of cooking. I have found that gluten is a problem for me and read that this could be an alternative. It has more fat of course, but very good.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a very simple simple book, just like the title says. September 10, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This little book is okay to have around if you wan't to whip up something quick. I bought it on Kindle so don't know if the terrible formatting is also the same with the paperbook. I think mostly that has been a turnoff for me to actually do something with the recipes. I made the honey biscuits and they were so greasy I had to put a bunch of paper towels under them to take out some of the oiliness. Taste wise they were good and my kids ate them up. The recipes are easy, nothing fancy here. There are a lot of recipes for sweet treats so this is good book to have when you want some comfort food.
