Product Description

When she was nineteen she posted her photo on a free Internet modeling website unaware of the risk, passion and self discovery that would follow. From that day, being a college student in New York City wasn't exciting anymore and instead being a model in New York City sounded so much better. Despite her slim chances of getting a modeling agent based on her height, she grabbed her bootstraps and used the Internet to promote herself. Except after months of running in-between her college classes to shoot with amateur photographers in their basements, penthouses, and living rooms it was inevitable that one day her mother would see her naked on the Internet. After this embarrassment she had no other choice but to change her name to Isobella. With her new name, now giving up before she made something of her self wasn't an option. Her story, first typed at the Apple Store on Prince Street in SoHo New York City, will inspire you to try any dream you have had.

5.0 out of 5 stars ....She Never Gave Up On Her Dreams...., October 18, 2007
By LPS (VA) - See all my reviews
This book was a quick read. I sat down and read it in one day. I wanted to see what was going to happen on the next page. The author used great voice and vivid imagery. A true tale of chasing your dreams - even in heels through NYC. The author is not just a model, she's an inspiration anyone fighting for their chance at success.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Go, Girl!, October 16, 2007
By Robert "photographer" (New York, NY United States) - See all my reviews
Almost 5'4" is the story of a survivor's journey through the not so pretty side of modeling. Isobella makes you root for her as she deals with lecherous photographers, poverty level wages and her quest to find her place in the business she loves.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing memoir, October 13, 2007
This is a well told story of the often times difficult life of a petite model in NYC. She never lost sight of her dream and wound up with a book written with humor and insight. I enjoyed reading this book and especially enjoyed the voice the author used when telling her tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible read.
A fascinating look into the struggles of the fashion industry, from the outside-in. This is scandalous, rabble-rousing writing at its best.
