I'm not really a music reviewer, but I'm enjoying this CD so much that I wanted to write something about it. When I first heard Michael Grubbs perform on the hit show One Tree Hill I was totally blown away, both by the awesome piano playing he does and by his strong vocal style. I was very excited to hear that his group - Wakey! Wakey! - was producing a full length studio album and "Almost Everything I Wish I'd Said the Last Time I Saw You" didn't disappoint me.

Folks have already used words like passionate, tender, sensitive and romantic to describe songs on this CD. I think those words are incredibly accurate, but they don't address what, to me, are the most relevant elements of this new work. I have to add reflective, sincere, fun and fresh to the list. It is the kind of music that makes you feel when you listen to it. The different tracks are so unique, and because of this they inspire a wide range of emotions: gratitude, empathy, hope, sadness, joy... Listening to the entire CD is quite a ride. It takes you on an emotional journey and for me, that's the point.

I just want to say Thank you one tree hill, the TV show, that has introduced me to many talented artists such as Wakey Wakey. He sings his soul into his songs and that is why this is such a beautiful album. PLEASE SUPPORT HIM! that is all I have to say.

'Almost Everything I Wish I'd Said The Last Time I Saw You' may be a mouthful, but it's the perfect title for an album that covers the many complexities of a relationship and it's demise.

There have been so many songs about heartache, but most are one-dimensional and concentrate on depression or anger. On their debut album, Wakey!Wakey! delve into the vast range of emotions synonymous with break-ups: being in love with someone who's not a good match (Square Peg Round Hole); playing the blame game (Got It All Wrong); staying with someone out of obligation (Light Outside).

The songs are beautifully written and the piano is prevalent, alternating between brash pounding and sweet sincerity, but it's the vocalist (Michael Grubbs) that gives each one genuine emotion.

My personal highlight is Car Crash, which uses a car accident as a euphemism for the end of a relationship. Its simplicity highlights the lyrics, which illustrate the heartbreak of getting over someone you still care about.

While the album may not tell a story, it's built on a theme and, while it may seem like a dismal premise, the overall sound is quite varied. They combine sweet ballads (Dance So Good) with funky tunes (The Oh Song) and bittersweet optimism (Almost Everything), culminating in stoic acceptance (Take It Like A Man).

Suffice it to say, this release boasts much more than an impressive title.

Almost Everything I Wish I'd Said The Last Time I Saw You- Wakey!Wakey!

This album made me fall in love with music all over again. The raw voice Michael Grubbs has along with the magical piano playing is spellbinding.
From the first few seconds on the song "Almost Everything" you know the album is going to be special.
From the catchy, upbeat feel good songs such as Twenty Two to the heartfelt, loving song Dance So Good the album provides a good variety of songs and shows Michael Grubbs talents as a musician.
I especially love the way the album tells a story, unlike other artists these days the songs have meaning to them. Their not songs that people can just dance and bop their head to. their songs that can be interpreted in different ways by every listener, a song that a listener can relate to. All the songs are connected, they tell a story that's what I love about it so much.
The album is music. Wakey!Wakey! have opened my ears and showed me real music again, I got lost in the chart music, with lyrics such as "get on the floor" and "Bounce" that I temporarily forgot what real music was, music that means something to you that you can relate to and not only listen to the beat but listen to the words as well, when a song can do all that then you have found true music and I'm happy to say Wakey!Wakey! has done that.
My favourite song on the album would have to be light outside I love the vocals and the music and I love the words it's hard to put into words how much music means to me and it's hard to explain why I love this album and why .. But I do listen to it yourself and you'll see why.

I am a very picky person when it comes to music. I don't play into anything that's considered popular, I feel it lacks feeling and a true connection with the audience. This cd, however, accomplishes all of those things. It is truly a masterpiece. From the start to the end it is a brilliant and complete piece of work. I, like most of their fans, discovered Wakey!Wakey! on the television show One Tree Hill. The first song that they ever played on this show was called Brooklyn (Acoustic Version) which sadly is not included on this album. From the time he struck the first note til the end of the song I was mesmerized. I had chills running up and down my back and arms. I could not tell you what happened in the show during that song because I was so mesmerized. I can say that from the moment I heard the first note I knew that I had discovered my new favorite band. Wakey!Wakey! is a phenominal band with amazing potential and so much better then the Justin Bieber's and Lady Gaga's out there. They are pure unfettered talent and they deserve so much more recognition then they get. I hope they achieve ultimate world-wide success and show everyone just how exceptionally brilliant they are. Not only should you buy this album but you should buy all of their EP's and singles. They are well worth the money.

Most of the music I hear on One Tree Hill isn't my style, but the first time they played one of these songs I knew I had to find this music. I love it and listen to it all the time. And shocker, no autotune used but still great music - imagine that! Most importantly I actually purchased it instead of getting it for free on the web cuz I want them to quit their day jobs and make this kind of music all the time! Looking forward to more albums.

This album provides a breath of fresh air to my music liking. I share this sound with as many people as possible. Although I bought it when it first came out, I still find myself craving a little Wakey!Waykey! I'm hoping a tour to the midwest is in the near future!

I love the CD! Wakey, Wakey has a fun and refreshing sound! I'm glad I heard their music on One Tree Hill!

The CD came perfectly packaged and as advertised. It was delivered before the deadline. I would order from them again.

I first heard them on One Tree Hill and I started listening to some songs online. Then I decided to buy the album and I don't regret it not one bit. I really like Mike's voice and his style of music.
