After their recent and successful "return to roots" Dokken album - LSA, Don said he wanted the next recording to be a little heavier and darker. This song is every indication that they'll be moving in that direction. It's hard hitting, John Levin's guitarwork sounds fantastic and Don's voice sounds good - as he's singing in the proper register for his voice these days - it has a slight, but pleasant rasp to it now. I can't imagine any Dokken fans not liking this single. Go ahead - support one of the few bands from the day who are still putting out killer music - click on the button, spend your 99 cents and start Rokken with Dokken!

For a band that is approaching the 30 year mark inspite of a revolving door of band members over thier career, Dokken once again is able to capture that signature Dokken sound on this new single. With the name sake Don Dokken at the helm along with original drummer "Wild" Mick Brown, Dokken forges on as a force to reckoned with in the hard melodic rock, classic metal genre'. With the new song Almost Over, Dokken capitalizes on the much popularized theme of impending end of the world prophecy of 2012. This straight ahead dark rocker once again shows thier ability to stay current with the times and also puts the "rokken" in Dokken.
With long time band member Jon Levin on guitar and ripping solos, he leaves no doubt that he is the most suitable guitarist for this line-up and leaves the old school fans still asking "George Who??"
This song sounds fresh yet retains a familiar element of an era gone by known as the decadent 80's when soaring vocals, heavy percussion and screaming guitars were the rule.
This song proves that Dokken still kicks ass!

One great thing about the internet era is that even older bands like Dokken have caught onto releasing a single for less than a buck. Anyone interested at all in Dokken should see where they're at in 2010 by downloading this song. It has all the classic elements of old-school Dokken (Don's great voice, ripping guitar parts, and the thundering drums of 'Wild' Mick Brown) with a modern edge. This song is one of a set of originals set to be on the band's re-recorded greatest hits album to be released later this year. Keep rokken with Dokken!
