You can get stuck in this game in less than 10 minutes.,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare (Game Cartridge)
This game's graphics are awesome...well, for Gameboy Color, that is. I'm stuck. Everything is confusing! I look everywhere I can and I get stuck! It's rated 'T' for teen, because of so-called "violence". Well, there's like no violence. The only reason it should be rated 'T' is because the game is so hard(and whenever you're about to go into combat mode, it shows Edward and he says 'what the [heck] is that?'). I probably should've saved my money. Save your money too, unless you plan on playing the game for 5 minutes and then giving up!

Alone in the Dark New Nightmare for GBC Great game,

Alone in the Dark The New Nightmare is based on successful, horror games by Infrogrames (which has been making games over 15 yrs). Alone in The Dark featured breakthrough animation, cinematic In the Gameboy Color game, the plot revolves around Camby investigating a murder on an island where a fellow was murdered All fingers point to Alan Morton who was living in a scary Word is that Morton is dead, and has perhaps mutated in GRAPHICS 5 The battle scenes and scenes involving finding clues The backgrounds for the game are also quite including the shots of the mansion. The monsters in the game: Everything from spiders, to killer dogs, look like they drawn in a rush and could have used more detail, but overall, the monsters look allright. However, there are certain parts of the game, where the scenery is drawn too dark and shaded so bad, that it makes it hard to tell in what area you are moving. For this fact, I gave the graphics a 5. The intermission scenes with Camby discussing the situation and puzzles you encounter are amazingly smooth and clear. In fact, they are almost as good as the PC graphics and polygons of the original game. The scenes in which Camby encounters the head monsters SOUND AND MUSIC 6 Shotguns blast, secret levers, magical items all have their realistic sounds that suits them. In this regard, the game is good, it's not like other games I have played in which the same sound is played for all the items in the game (which is incredibly stupid from a programming and gaming point of view). My biggest complaint of the music though is that there are only 2 or 3 soundtracks for the game, so it becomes repetitive in many areas, but since the music and sound is done well, it's not a big deal. CONTROL 6 In AD you get through the Nightmare using a variety of different Replay Value 5 It's a really interesting game to play the first Overall: Alone In The Dark The New Nightmare is a great new story in the series. The graphics are respectable, though in some cases, the 2d backgrounds, and shading make some areas very ugly and dark to see. The sound and music is also good, for the most part it sets the tone in the game throughout, leaving you scared in some cases and leaving in suspense in others. The Replay value is the biggest problem in the game. Once you finish the game, there is not much motivation to play it, unless you're a fan of the series. However, from a game programming point of view, the game is done well and anyone wishing to program games, could learn a thing or too from this game.

Alone in the Dark review,

Alone in the Dark has awesome graphics(pre-rendered backgrounds) but the main character Edward could look better. He is comprised of only three colors, and sticks out from the background like a sore thumb, but enough about Edward. The game has awesome color rich environments, although the game lacks in sounds and music the gameplay and graphics make up for it. One other bad thing about this game would be the battle sequences, you cannot aim worth a darn and sometimes end up wasting alot of ammo, but... This GBC game overall is a awesome game, and I would recommend it to those who like survival horror.

Not As Good As The Playstation Version! A Short Game Compaired To The Consule Versions. But Still a Must Have For The ALONE IN THE DARK Fans. Also It Has a Battery Installed To Save All your Game Info. Overall a Great Survival Horror Game! I'm glad I bought It.

this is one heck of a horror game, but even though its on GBC, it still provides a good scare, this may be so, but it dosn't match that of Gaiden.
Its almost completely indentical to its Playstation counter-part. So here you go, my review on Alone in the Dark. Story: like the PS1 version, edward carnby is investigating his friends death, and this leads him to Shadow Island, with him is Aline Cedrac. Thats all there is to touch on here, so I'm going leave it there. Graphics: absoloutly gorgeous, the textures are smooth and colorful. The pre-rendered enviroments look better than ever, too. sound: The digitized owl hoots sound great, and the weapons are decent. Gameplay: The fire fights are action-packed, but the exploration can be frustrating, nothing that flaws the experiance as a whole. my conclusion is that this is a pretty neat game and you should definatly check this out, its preety sweet.

I am not a spring chicken but this game is fun, except I got lost about 5 minutes into it, however my 16 yr old son figured it out, (as usual). Its has good graphics for the age of the game and its fairly easy. I think its fun...

The fourth installment of the long running Alone in the Dark series makes it's GameBoy Color debut, and the results are surprising. For being an 8-bit GBC game, the graphics are awesome, even reminiscent of Konami's GBC version of Metal Gear Solid. Besides the great graphics and sound, the only glaring problem with the game is that it is incredibly easy to get lost in the game and the enemies and puzzles are taxing. Not to mention the game has virtually no replay value once you beat it, no matter how much of a survival horror fan you are. Despite that though, as far as the genre goes on the GBC, there is this game and Resident Evil Gaiden, and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is noticibly superior. All in all, if your still playing your GameBoy Color, this game is definitely worth checking out, and from the looks of things it's most certainly better than the upcoming movie.
