4.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical K-Drama
I stopped watching K-drama when I was old enough to tell fiction from reality, but I have to say this series brought me back! K-Drama turns me off because it usually deals with contrive plots with forced plot twists, but this drama is antithesis of what's typical.

Bad Acting!! Bad Music!! Bad Script!!!. this is something to watch if you have nothing better to do. If I watch a funny show I expect myself to laugh or cry if it is a sad story. this one neither made me laugh nor cry. A little acting and a whole lot of talking. The lead actress had this emotionless expression through out the show and it seemed to me she was just reading...

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical K-Drama, February 28, 2007
This review is from: Alone in Love (DVD)
I stopped watching K-drama when I was old enough to tell fiction from reality, but I have to say this series brought me back! K-Drama turns me off because it usually deals with contrive plots with forced plot twists, but this drama is antithesis of what's typical.

Gam Woo-Sung of "King and the Clown" is fantastic starring as an ordinary guy who's dealing with doldrum of a everyday life after a divorce. Son Ye-Jin "the Classic" also tries to deal with her own emotions as she tries to get on with her life after divorcing Gam Woo-Sung. However, they constantly end up bumping into each other because they're trapped in their everyday routine.

The two characters dance around the real issue they have to face to get back together, but you start to realize they're like the rest of us who are too weak and full of foolish pride that prevents us from realizing true happiness.

The series flows like a book as it is based on a award winning Japanese novel by Hisashi Nozawa, and acting is simply superb.

I recommend this series to all the K-Drama (or non K-Drama fans) fans who wants a break from love triangles and evil stepmothers, and experience something real and interesting about contemporary Korean love life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sad but captivating, February 17, 2008
This review is from: Alone in Love (DVD)
A sad but captivating love story for those who like to watch romance. Flows more naturally and real to life than the average Korean Drama. The music and acting are good.

4.0 out of 5 stars great!, January 27, 2008

I really like this. I have to scoff at anyone who said bad acting. I think it was its own and managed serious stuff along side humor very well. I really cared about the characters. I would definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addicting poignant story., January 6, 2012
This review is from: Alone in Love (DVD)
I saw this several years ago, and it was the first kdrama I ever watched. I couldn't remember the name of it and finally I found it. I watched it again and finished it this time. I am sorry I didn't finish it sooner. It's among my favorites.

Very thoughful.

Loved the little sister and the doctor. Just the right amount of comedy to move things along and a joy to see to a see a relationship begin between the two. Great chemistry. Loved him in I Love You series as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars The most intelligent KDrama available., September 18, 2009

This review is from: Alone in Love (DVD)
Yes, it is a oxymoron intelligent kdrama. This one ranks up there with Sam Soon and Dae Jang Geum. Yes it does have the
standard and relentless two guys one girl, two girls one guy plot. But in this case the characters are interesting and likable mostly. They are not all millionaires and orphans but just average people trying to get past tragedy and failing but struggling. It does not have the standard nobody can see the guy/girl standing in the room and hearing the secret nobody is supposed to know to resolve the relentless heartlessness and selfishness of everybody else. The subtitles are above average. That acting is good as in most Kdramas. The plot is original at least as far as Kdramas go. It has humor but is mostly more adult and the characters can be harsh, not in the standard selfish and merciless Korean way but with a little more reason and humanity behind their actions. If the standard Kdrama plot is all you want this will probably be of less interest. But if you are tired of the same Kdrama plots and want a bit of a twist give it a shot.

If I watch a funny show I expect myself to laugh or cry if it is a sad story. this one neither made me laugh nor cry. A little acting and a whole lot of talking. The lead actress had this emotionless expression through out the show and it seemed to me she was just reading the scrip instead of acting . I dont care if they wanted the story to be as real as real life is. In real life no body runs into his/her ex 5 times a day , at the gym, the bookstore , the restaurant etc......they danced around the issue of them getting back together and sure enough one would be mad and storm out. Watch other great series such as : damo, sad love story, winter sonata, stairway to heaven and compare the storyline and acting......you will see what I meant.
