A Gift to Treasure,
This review is from: Alone in Marriage: Encouragement For the Times When It's All Up to You (Paperback)
This book was such a gift and blessing to my spirit. I appreciate the fact that Mrs. Larson didn't "bad mouth" husbands or put the blame on them, but rather emphasized the fact that GOD can work miraculously even in the most one-sided situations. She reminds us that we all have our flaws and that the canvas of marriage is an excellent place for GOD to create HIS masterpiece. She offers many spiritually practical ways of working through the anxiety, fear, and anger that understandably surface during these times, and she also provides numerous examples of how GOD works through even the most difficult circumstances.
I was doubly blessed to find that many of her suggestions and insight have spilled over into other areas of my life that aren't marriage related. I highly recommend this book to my married friends and also my single friends who are waiting for their mates. I truly believe that the more biblically based information we receive the better prepared we are to face the battles ahead. (Thank you for sharing such a great gift!)

I think that this is a good book for some women. She has a lot of good thoughts. The theme that is most helpful, I believe, is to encourage women to really depend on and lean into their relationship with the Lord. It may not be the best resource for the women that are in really painful marriages that don't seem to change. I think there are better books for this need. In my opinion, it is good for those whose marriage aren't what they had hoped for but not for the women in a lot of pain, dealing with some serious challenges.

Alone in Marriage,
This review is from: Alone in Marriage: Encouragement For the Times When It's All Up to You (Paperback)
This book is so uplifting & encouraging to someone married but walking
alone for a time. It's like an angel on your shoulder saying you can do this... just keep walking. I could have easily given up and walked away from my marriage many times. This book put the fight back in me. It gave me the strength and courage to continue on. I am so grateful!!! I highly recommend this book to anyone feeling alone in their marriage for what ever reason.

Alone in Marriage: Walking with God When It's All Up to You,
By
This review is from: Alone in Marriage: Encouragement For the Times When It's All Up to You (Paperback)
This book is excellent and full of truths that will help any woman struggling during a difficult season of marriage. The author, Susie Larson, addresses some of the toughest paths women cross--our anger, our worries, our fears, lies that we believe--and redirects our focus upward to gain God's perspective and claim the incredible love God has for us. The reader is not left `alone' in their situation but is given steps to take when the heart or mind is weak--firm steps of truth grounded in Scripture. Susie shares with humility and honesty from her own personal life and through testimonies of women who found themselves in times of emotional, financial, spiritual crisis. She isn't afraid to ask the hard questions nor quiet about the message of God's love. I found the book profoundly helpful in my marriage and in my walk with God.

Wonderful Book!,
This review is from: Alone in Marriage: Encouragement For the Times When It's All Up to You (Paperback)
Author Susie Larson certainly knows how to connect with her reader. This book will touch the heart of any woman who has ever gone through a season of pain. She shares stories of other women as well as herself and gives excellent advice to help any woman through a myriad of tough situations. I found the book open and honest and a pleasure to read as well as a great learning experience as the author dealt with destructive attitudes such anger, worry, and self-pity, to name a few. I found myself reading this book with my Bible open along side it. I highly recommend this book...and if you have a friend who feels alone in her marriage, I recommend you share it!

Totally Blessed!,
This review is from: Alone in Marriage: Encouragement For the Times When It's All Up to You (Paperback)
I laughed and cried through out this book! Susie is not afraid to share real situations, hers and others, to teach, inspire and guide us through a process of overcoming pitfalls in our marriages. She calls us upward to faith and the overcoming power of a Living God. I loved this book! She calls these trying times, 'one sided seasons'. It was so interesting to me that her husband, Kevin, also share about his 'one sided season' in their marriage. It was great to hear his perspective. This book brings God's wisdom to bear on times like these that we all go through.

Incredible book for a woman's walk with the Lord,

This review is from: Alone in Marriage: Encouragement For the Times When It's All Up to You (Paperback)
I was given this book when my marriage fell apart and it was all up to God to bring my husband back around and save my marriage. I was devastated but when I picked up this book and started reading about my Lord and the different attitudes and qualities I should let go of and hold on to I started to see myself life change. Susie's book is an incredible source of comfort and encouragement. She is practical too-I was able to put those aspects into practice right away and really saw the Lord use her book to put me back on my feet again and restore my relationship with God. The verses are the best part! I still read them and memorize them and use them to fight my battle of identity and self-worth. My marriage is still obsolete and I am now waiting for the Lord to bring my husband back but I am able to live a joy-filled life as I wait. I highly reccomend this book to any woman wanting a strong relationship with the Lord.

my daughter's words,
This review is from: Alone in Marriage: Encouragement For the Times When It's All Up to You (Paperback)
My daughter Sarah told me that Susie Larson's book changed her life and her marriage in such a positive way that she recommends the book to anyone who is married. She said the book shifts the focus from, what can he do for me, to what can I do to change me. It made her see how
grateful she needed to be and appreciative of what she has been given. Their marriage is even better for taking this great book to heart. Thank you Susie, From a grateful father

Alone in Marriage,
This review is from: Alone in Marriage: Encouragement For the Times When It's All Up to You (Paperback)
I have read many books on this topic over the years but this book is much more practical. It doesn't just give me information that helps me understand my situation, but gives me tools to actually transform my attitude and my reaction to my situation. I love the "Lending a Hand" section at the end of each chapter which narrows down many aspects of the chapter and sums them up succinctly. The prayers at the end of each chapter are worth the price of the book. Whatever the circumstances of your marriage you will be challenged and blessed in your relationship with Jesus and rewarded with peace in your marriage.
