This is an excellent cd (2 actually) to own. Not only do you get the greatness of Max and Clifford, you get the likes of Sonny Rollins, Hank Mobley, Sarah Vaughn, Kenny Dorham, Stanley Turrentine and countless others on certain tracks. This is a no lose cd. Awesome choice for anyone from the jazz musician to someone who just wants to check it out. :)

Skip this compilation and buy the individual CD's on the Emarcy label instead. They should all be easlily available. All of this group's music is essential, and there is not nearly enough room on two discs to do justice to their legacy.

Clifford Brown was a meteor streaking across the sky of the jazz world. This is the best example of his work. Drummer Max Roach, flawless technique and passion. Here you have an unbeatable combination. Get this CD and learn what jazz is supposed to be!
