Review

Robert Dawson has a special talent for capturing moments from a cowboy's life that . . . showcase the raw beauty of the West . . . -- Peter Ensenberger, Arizona Highways Magazine

About the Author

Robert Dawson's collection of photographs include a fascinating array of people and places; from the native inhabitants of the beautiful Cook and Fiji islands in the Pacific, to Native Americans on reservation lands, to working cowboys in the mountains and prairies that make up what was once the Old West. His collection of cowboy photographs was compiled over five years and has become the focus of his work. Dawson, who once worked as a cowboy on a Arkansas ranch, has traveled the West extensively, much of the time on horseback. He was born in Bellaire, Texas, and now makes his home in Cave Creek,Arizona when not on location.

Writer Tammy LeRoy lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. As a free-lance journalist, she writes on a variety of topics, including present-day ranching and cowboy life, but her paticular passion is the history and folklore of the American West. LeRoy's book, Living With Arizona's Ghosts, a collection of stories by those who live and work in currently haunted sites, will be published in 2001.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cowboys, Horses and Scenery, August 27, 2000
This review is from: Along The Cowboy Trail (Hardcover)
This exquisite "coffee table" book is full of the emotions of the real West! Being a horse-person myself, I can feel the beauty and the energy from the great photography in this book. Robert Dawson really captures the moment with his photography. These are photos of areas and activities that some people from the East would love to experience; and those that some of us have experienced and can relive through this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Pictures, Terrible Writing, August 6, 2004

This review is from: Along The Cowboy Trail (Hardcover)
Richard Dawson is known for his wonderful western photographs. Unfortunately he chose to partner with an inexperienced writer that is unable to produce anything of value to add to this book. As a coffee table book, this would have been so much better if the text had been left out and the pictures were all that it contained. Tammy LeRoy should try to find another occupation and leave the writing to someone with talent, style and a reasonable vocabulary.
