Percussive, dreamy, dubby, epic, ancient and new, perfect.Maybe like Stereolab. Sigur Ros. Minus the bear. Explosions in the sky. But it's own thing. A true serendipity.

was not expecting this...,
By MIDDLESCHOOLPOET (Flaryda) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Along the Quai (Audio CD)
Last night my friend needed a ride to see the Faint in Boulder. I wasn't overwhelmingly excited, but he does a lot for me and I owe it to him...especially if he's buying me a ticket. The Berg Sans Nipple played the opening set, and from the first ten seconds of the first song I was eating out of the palm of their hands. I was blown away...I hadn't expected to see anything like this on that particular night. It's almost painful to use a comparison like this, but in all of my excitement i can't come up with anything more appropriate: it was like the Album Leaf on steroids. Dynamic electronic music with natural sensibilities, heavy 'tribal' drum beats, and and...steel drums! This is moving and original music in a category where most artists follow the path that has been laid out for them, perhaps with a slight twist. I've read about this band upstaging the main act on several occasions, and as I stood among irritated high school students yelling, "this is BORING" and, "SHUT UP"...I may have been among the few, but I believed it.Just listen to the samples, this is good music...especially on a large system with a lot of bass.
