My wife and I liked this album so much that we wore out playing the tape given to us a couple of years ago by our friends. We recently repurchased it again, but this time on CD. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this album.

Three perfect voices deliver perfect songs,

Margaret Becker is the best pure singer in Christian music. Christine (Out of the Grey) Dente has the most charming voice. Susan Ashton has the most soulful. Put these three ladies together on one CD with disarmingly powerful, perceptive songs and organic production and what do you get? Only one of the best albums ever made. Each song nicely fits the personality of its lead singer's voice and the back-up work by each lady is nothing if not mesmerizing. And when they do full-on harmonies together ... wow. I think "Along the Road" is one of the most amazingly rich and spiritually refreshing CDs I've ever experienced. The first cut alone literally soars (I'm not kidding!) through the skies and lifts you up with it. I get goosebumps every time. Even if you've never bought any of these ladies' work individually, you owe to yourself to get this CD. It is a legendary achievement.

MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE SPIRIT LIFTER!,

I've owned this CD for years and I never get tired of it! I have alot of Christian and secular music and this one ALWAYS lifts me up! (even when I think nothing can) The lyrics encapture you and reminds you of how we are not of this world. It somehow takes you away! I've played Susan Ashtons CD's for friends and they can't believe it's Christian music because it's so good! These three women blend like no others. I really can't recomend this CD highly enough, especially if your looking for something to minister to you, lift you up, and take you out of any funky mood!!! Do yourself a favor - GET IT - this one is a life-saver for me!

I took a chance when I bought this CD. I own a lot of Christian music, and have heard Margaret Becker and Christine Dente before, but didn't have any of their music. Let me say that you won't be sorry if you decide to buy this CD! I love every song on the album. I can't write a good enough review, and 5 stars are not enough! I can't pick a favorite song, they are all great! (Incidentally, there is another CD that I purchased which is similar and also a wonderful album. It's called "Heaven & Earth - A Tapestry of Worship".)

This album consistently takes me over. It is as beautiful and visceral as the voices that sing it. Of course I recommend it! I also hope the three get together to make another.

These three talented woman created a CD that was truely greater than the sum of the parts. The harmonies grab your soul and squeeze out the tears of joy. In listening to this album, you sense the fun they were having and the reverence they give to to their creator. It is almost a guily pleasure, because you feel as though your are eavesdropping on their musical communion. Thank you ladies for allowing us this blessing.

This one of the few perfect cds I have. You'll never need to skip a song because all are great. These women are top artists making a dream team, the songwriting is amazing and the production is absolutely on target.

Not being a big Christian music fan, I was pleasantly surprised by the high level musicality of this CD. Dente, Ashton & Becker offer a wonderful vocal combination combined with uplifting instrumental support. This arrangement of Dan Fogelberg's "Along The Road" is nay, better than Dan's original! A beautiful work. I even ordered the piano/vocal book and performed some of the songs at church. -Judi A., Omaha, NE

One of a kind from three of the best!,

In the four years since this album was released, there has not been another in which three primarily solo artists have come together for a trio album. When Susan Ashton, Margaret Becker, and Christine Dente from Out of the Grey agreed to blend their considerable vocal talents into a harmonious whole, they presented music listeners with a rare and precious gift! Initially, this album received much critical acclaim from reviewers of both Christian and general market music, and I have no doubt that it would receive similar attention if released today. Listener that stumble across this album along their future roads will consider themselves quite fortunate. I'm still hoping for a sequel!

Wonderful!,

I'm not a CD collector by any means, and I'm not really a huge fan of Christian music. It all sounds the same to me, I don't know. I'm liberal and street/alt in my ways so you can measure that in this review any way you wish. :-) My love/hate relationship with going to church has pegged me as basically a loner Christian for going on 30 years now. I do love Margaret Becker though and find when I'm as dry as a stick I can put in just about any CD of hers and let it run all the way through and will somehow wind up a heap of snot and tears on the floor in my apartment. On a whim I decided to check Amazon to see if there was anything new from her and apparently in my absence she'd moved on to some other phase in her life. The nerve! Just before that though somebody managed to get her involved with Ashton and Dente, two other singers I've heard before and recalled liking a whole lot. I took a chance and picked this CD up. WIN!!
A word of warning though. At one point I was making a bold attempt to reintegrate myself into a church family.... again. I had a peer/worship team member over for food and coffee and put this CD in. She seemed unaffected. At one point I asked her how she liked it and she said it was too country for her. This same woman brings me to near suicidal boredom with saccharin worship CDs in her car at all times so I was a little surprised by her reaction. Anyway, I LOVE this CD and the spiritual significance it has to offer though upon closer inspection I have to agree with my house guest. The CD is very country easy listening so if you're a die hard head banger or want to impress people with your 'altyness,' this CD wont do it for you. The rest of you, read on. Man, this CD has so many layers and facets. I bought it years ago, listened and loved it right off. Beautiful singing, beautiful songs, beautiful harmonies. On a musical level it has so much to offer in lyric and expression. I put it away and forgot all about it. Then I hit a dark place in my life where I really didn't care one way of the other. It seemed I'd heard and seen it all and could not be bothered to be impressed or interested. A few days ago as I was going through my CD collection looking for something else I came across this one again. I yanked it out and decided to give it a quick whirl before moving on. This time somehow the whole CD spoke a whole new language to me. It took on a different life and meant different things to me this time than it did the first time I heard it. I had to stop what I was doing and just sit and let it all wash over me. By the second song I was sobbing out loud like a toddler and humming along. It has been playing in my head and has been in my CD player at home for about 4 days now. Throughout the day I will find a lovely earworm in my ear and at one point I started crying on the subway. (no big deal, everybody cries on the Red Line) I would go right to the song on the CD when I returned home at the end of the day. A lot of the songs on it speak something entirely different to me than they did the first time I played them. This one is a classic. If you already like any of the ladies who are on this CD you will LOVE this compilation. I'm going to add "uplifting" to the tag suggestions because this one is certainly that and I can be fairly heavy to lift. Bless God for answering many prayers through this CD. <3 |
