Apex binoculars are equipped with fully multicoated BaK-4 glass lenses, creating clear, bright high-resolution images from the center of the view to the outer edges. Alpen upped the ante by including a PXA phase coating and HR metallic coating. The phase coating encourages superior resolution and color fidelity, while the metallic prism coating enhances light transmission and brightness. Combine the coatings and you have a binocular that allows clear viewing in both bright and dim conditions even when the weather outside is dreadful.

Ergonomically styled for lightweight handling, the Apex binoculars include a rubber armoring for comfort and protection in the field. Other features include long eye relief; pull-up, twist-lock eyecups that encourage an extra-wide field of view; a nitrogen-filled and -sealed waterproof housing; and a soft rubber rain guard. I've had my pair now for about a year. They are extremely well made and provide clear and sharp views, thanks to the metallic coatings. You can easily spend hundreds more and not see any improvement. They're rugged and easily stand up to swings in weather conditions. I wear a harness with them and have no problem carrying them for miles and miles. Check out the great online reviews. You get a great bang for your buck with these.

My husband is an avid hunter, which means he hunts in the winter weather and needed a good set of binoculars that do not fog. He has had several pairs, but these are by far the best ones he has ever owned. I researched to find them and noted they were mostly rated by the bird watching community, not by hunters.It was a gamble on my part when I purchased them and he is extremely happy. His hunting buddies have gone on to purchase them also. Note - they are not found in our local sportsman's store, which I find odd.
