4.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and functional.
While this may not be as good as my Brunton Echo (despite the fact this this is 10X and my Brunton is only 7X), it's still a fine monocular, especially for the price. It seems to be quite sturdy, but I'd avoid dropping or smacking it into anything all the same. 2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with performance
Was disappointed with the fuzzy edge of field, could not obtain a "crisp" focus. Returned item for refund due to poor performance.

While this may not be as good as my Brunton Echo (despite the fact this this is 10X and my Brunton is only 7X), it's still a fine monocular, especially for the price. It seems to be quite sturdy, but I'd avoid dropping or smacking it into anything all the same. The only thing I found odd was that they decided to put the focus on the eyepiece instead of the end of the device. If you wear glasses this means you will likely smudge the lenses when focusing due to your fingers rubbing against the them. The entire monocular is covered in rubber, not counting the small piece of plastic that holds the neck strap on (which happens to come pre-attached, by the way). They also come with a relatively well made looking nylon case. Overall, for the price, these are a fine choice for those that don't want to lug around bulky binoculars yet still want to be able to see far away objects. You could do a lot worse.

5.0 out of 5 stars does the job, April 24, 2010

Ordered this for my husband to take to Afghanistan with him. Hes a soldier, they carry a lot of stuff everywhere they go anyway, so he needed something lightwaight, small, and worth taking with him. This did the trick, it Magnifies ALMOST as good as my dads expensive hunting bi-noculars, but a fraction of the size and waight. Easy to use, easy to carry, easy to put back in your pocket if youre in a hurry

It works as advertised. Although it's not for "night vision", the lens is big enough to work when there's poor light. I like the rubber coating. It seems very durable. Occasionally I need to read house numbers set back from the road and this beats having to carry bulky pair of binoculars, or getting out of the car, especially in winter. The nylon carrying case is is strong with a velcro flap and loop to wear on a belt.

I am in charge of several tower sites for my job, plus I get asked to check on others' towers from time to time. If I can't find a tower climber quickly I have two choices...climb the tower myself (not gonna happen!) or use a scope to look at it. Problem is, carrying the larger scopes gets to be problematic and if I'm not in a work vehicle I often don't have one handy, so I needed something that would easily fit in my glove compartment or pocket to give me a quick analysis of a potential problem. By no means will it replace my larger scopes, but if it looks like trouble I'll haul out one of the larger devices. You DO need a steady hand, and focus & aiming can be a problem, but once you get used to it it's really pretty easy to use, and with 10x it brings you up pretty close. I really like the rubber coating too, makes it less slippery with wet hands, and won't be a cold piece of metal on my eye in the winter. I also like the case, keeps it clean when not in use and it will loop on your belt if you have a whole day of service. All in all, for the price it's a pretty useful tool.

2.0 out of 5 stars Almost Unusable, May 6, 2011

Bought these to use turkey hunting. There is a large portion of the view that is fuzzy and hazy (not due to moisture); it's a problem with the lenses. The focus on these is so temperamental that a quick focus is very difficult. In lower light, forget it, they don't work well. The only reason I gave these a 2 star was because the size was just what I was looking for. Other than that they are useless for my needs. Will give it to my kids to play with.

For $13 what should I have expected. It magnifies, but small sight picture. Rubber coating seems to be much thinner than anticipated. Optics not the clearest, but then again it is not a Nikon or Swarovski either. Not a bad optic for your kids- if they loose it or break it your not out much. I will give to my son and eventually get a better one, probably a spotting scope or much better set of binocs.

Ok for the money, but not great. Optics are a little hard to focus and not very sharp, but acceptable for the price

This monocular is great for the money. It works well for any day hiker, just trying to see what it out ahead. If you were an avid bird watcher, or were really looking for some clarity, or a huge field of vision, I don't believe that this would be for you. They are well constructed and a good size and weight. Very happy for the $$.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Cool Monocular!, August 12, 2010

I'm 13 and I just bought this monocular for fun. It's length is pretty short at almost 4.5" (11cm). I look out my window to see whats going on outside and it pretty much does the job. I also use it when I am outside like in the woods and stuff. I like the feel of the green rubber on the monocular. I'm not an expert but it does get out of focus sometimes. It comes with a black nylon carrying case which is great. I would not recommend it to people with glasses because the thing that changes the focus is the part that touches your eye and it would probably smudge the glass. It also shakes allot if you don't have a steady hand. Overall pretty good monocular.
