I purchased two of the Alpen Monoculars on a wim, expection them to be not much more than a toy based upon the purchase price. I was pleasently surpised when they arrived at their quality and clarity. I will be taking one with me on my next foray into the forest. Light, compact and easy to carry, they also come with a velcro belt case. a good purchase indeed.

You get what you pay for. The Alpen Monocular is a decently built, nice, product. It's large enough that you don't fumble around with it and light enough that you can hold it steady without issue. I would have liked to have seen Alpen include front and rear caps. Without them, you really become dependent on the case in storing the monocular. I would have gladly swapped the shoe-string lanyard in for caps.

I have a mailbox flag that flips up when our mail is delivered but our house is about 300 feet away from it in thick woods. I have a little hole cleared out so I can see it from the back door but can't always tell if it's up without help. I keep this little monocular beside the door and it's just as powerful as our big binoculars but much handier. It's a little hard to hold it steady but I just prop it agains the window and it's perfect! If you have a steady hand, as I used to, you shouldn't have any problem with the shaking view. It would be great to put in your pocket during hikes or walks in the country.

If the space is premium then packing monocular is way to go. Though this monocular will do the job I hesitate to recommend wholeheartedly because you get what you pay for. If possible I recommend strongly that you go to your local sports shop to see if the monocular you're interested is available and take a peek at it. The brightness and field of view may not be what you expect. If you're not sure then go look at other monocular until you come across model that fits your budget and you're happy what you see through.

More than i expected, i bought it togheter with a Brunton Echo Zoom Monocular and this has better size and much more clarity, brunton is a 10x-30x, and even at 10x can't match optics with this one, recomended for the price, 32mm is not so tinny not so big for carry on pants sleeve, doesn't have too much color aberration too.

This monocular being rubber coated is easier to hang onto and the lanyard ties so ya' know where it is. Espescially beneficial for driving as it easy for the copilot to pick up road signs!

Well worth the money you pay for this. It is always good to be able to see for a distance but the weight and cost of binoculars is not welcome on extended hikes or in a bug out situation...especially for the budget conscience. Wish I could cover the lens' but for such a reasoanble price I will not complain. Much better thant the 10x25 and worth the few extra dollars! Everything I have is green so this was a nice bonus when I found it.

If you have used quality optics you will not like this $20 wonder. It's dark even in good light, useless in low light. The field of view is small even with your eye pressed close to it. The focus ring is so stiff, it is very difficult to focus, impossible to focus on a moving target. If space in your pack is the issue, I would go with a small pair of binoculars.

I was looking for a something that would be smaller/more compact than a pair of binoculars to take hiking. So I went with this monocular.
Turned out not to be what I was looking for. Not very functional. For one thing, the user must place the eyepiece very close to your eye in order to see the whole field of view. Does not work so well with eyeglasses. Also, I need to continually focus it as a scan in the distance. I'm not sure if that's an issue with monoculars in general or this specific model. I think I will go back to binoculars.

We had gotten a golf scope for our 7 y-o over the holidays. Sadly, it was not rugged enough to survive my son's first adventures out into the park. This item seems much more rugged. I'm confident it will last longer. Note the range is from 303'-1000yds. It can't be focused within the confines of the yard. It's better for open spaces.
