Product Description

Alpha Black Zero: Intrepid Protocol is squad-based tactical gaming combined with stealth and shooter action -- all wrapped up in a great sci-fi storyline. In the year 2366, soldier Kyle Hardlaw stands accused of betraying his government & assassinating key figures across the solar system. Behind this odd courtroom drama lies a winding maze of political intrigue and counter-espionage. Hardlaw escapes custody and must navigate his way through an unthinkable conspiracy.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW where to start? My head still hurts from all the frustrations of this game!

Typically I am pretty positive even when a game is pretty bad...but this game was down right terrible.

The gameplay is horrible.

The game is VERY BUGGY !!!!!

They released a patch for it 1.04...it almost does nothing!

The gameplay is terrible, the AI is horrible, tons of terrain you cannot walk over...for no reason!

The worst is getting support...it basically does NOT exist!

The original game developers "Khaeon" no longer take responsibility. PLAYLOGIC is the new name behind it. They will not give you the time of day.

Their website provides almost no information or even links to steer you.

I had to scrounge around the internet to chat with others that suffered from the same problems I had and try to use their tricks to get it to run. Once I got it running (4 days later) the pain really began.

This game is horrible!! With so many other great choices out there, "Battlefield Vietnam, Call of Duty or Call of Duty:United Offensive,Manhunt, UT 2004, Star Wars Battlefront....

Why waste your money on this piece of garbage!!!!???????

3.0 out of 5 stars A well written story bogged down by bad programming and low budget, July 7, 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Alpha Black Zero: Intrepid Protocol (CD-ROM)
Though the missions are painfully straightforward and the combat feels bland and unsatisfying, there is a fairly inspired storyline which would feel right at home in a science fiction military novel along the lines of Halo or Neuromancer.

Pros:
-Storyline, background, presentation, and cutscene directing (no spoilers here, but let's just say they take a VERY interesting and original take on AI and interplanetary society/government/military)
-Certain environmental and model graphics
-Team member switching to control weapon usage and form effective defense formations
-Mission-tailored pre-level weapons loadouts

Cons:
-Good looking character models hampered by poor animation
-Bland outdoor terrains later somewhat improved upon in indoor bases
-Extremely simplistic and uninvolving combat mars some interesting gun designs, poor gun effects with minimal realism, particle effects, or bullet tracers/impacts/spent shell cases
-A few bugs even in my much patched later version on an extremely powerful PC many years newer than the game itself (Sometimes enemies are invulnerable, "soft" models like plants can't be shot through, terrains block shots even though you have line of sight, all enemy and squad AI shuts down, endgame levels and videos have some atrocious memory leaks)
-Some early level designs are needlessly open and boring

To sum it up, worth the 6 dollars I spent on it, and although a bit of a chore at times I found it to be worth finishing. I hope the developers stick around and learn from their mistakes (or perhaps attain bigger budgets).
