Book Description

Bugs in a Box Books

From A to Z, an alphabet of everyone's favorite bugs that makes learning fun.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Where will they strike next? A jar of olives (medium, pitted, California), a waffle iron (silver, black-handled), a rock (plain, brown)-each conceals a daffy insect invention from the creator of How Many Bugs in a Box? and Jingle Bugs. In Carter's latest, familiar objects (umbrella, doughnut, hammer, etc.) are given (appropriately named) bug eyes and, often, antennae; they are wittily transformed into members of an odd but comical alphabet species. The subtitle doesn't quite do the book justice, since there as many pull-tabs and liftable flaps as true pop-ups (and a turning wheel, a tactile powder puff and even a scratchable "fancy fragrant Flower Bug")-but that minor cavil certainly won't prevent kids from having a grand time as they discover three particularly peppy specimens lurking in a "jar of jumping Jellybean Bugs" or lift a vibrant green vine to uncover "two terribly timid Tomato Bugs." Amusing alliteration and a zany sense of humor deliver fun with every letter. Ages 2-4.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but for little ones, choose Feely Bugs, July 28, 2000
This review is from: Alpha Bugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book (Bugs in a Box Books) (Hardcover)
Like all David Carter bug books, this is a treat. However, the intricate pop-ups of these characters make these books difficult to keep for little ones. The bugs are too enticing -- they want to put their fingers around every piece, and although as pop-ups go these books are pretty sturdy, some of the bugs are delicate and tear easily. This is a terrific treat for a kid who understands pop ups. For littler ones, I'd recommend Feely Bugs by the same author, which essentially can't be torn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Reading for kids as well as adults!, July 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Alpha Bugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book (Bugs in a Box Books) (Hardcover)
This book is highly recommended. My 8 month old daughter will read this with me at least 4 times a day, and never tires of it. She is fascinated by all the pop ups, especially the 'pink powder puff bug' and the 'itsy bitsy inchworm'. I can see this book is going to be much loved, and we are now David Carter converts!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the only book my son will actually look at!, December 5, 1998

This review is from: Alpha Bugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book (Bugs in a Box Books) (Hardcover)
I have several of David Carters books and LOVE them. No other books will hold my 10 month old sons attention. When we finish reading all of them, he always wants to read them again. I highly recommend these books to any parent searching for something that their kids will actually look at and learn from.
