4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but for little ones, choose Feely Bugs
Like all David Carter bug books, this is a treat. However, the intricate pop-ups of these characters make these books difficult to keep for little ones. The bugs are too enticing -- they want to put their fingers around every piece, and although as pop-ups go these books are pretty sturdy, some of the bugs are delicate and tear easily. This is a terrific treat for a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great book, bad retailer
We love this book. It is very fun and excites ids to read and learn about the alphabet. I was buying a replacement for a copy I already own that had damage (typical for a pop up book). The problem is that it was listed as being in very good condition, and it had more damage than the copy I already had. Multiple pages were written on, and six of the pop ups were damaged or...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but for little ones, choose Feely Bugs, July 28, 2000

Like all David Carter bug books, this is a treat. However, the intricate pop-ups of these characters make these books difficult to keep for little ones. The bugs are too enticing -- they want to put their fingers around every piece, and although as pop-ups go these books are pretty sturdy, some of the bugs are delicate and tear easily. This is a terrific treat for a kid who understands pop ups. For littler ones, I'd recommend Feely Bugs by the same author, which essentially can't be torn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Reading for kids as well as adults!, July 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Alpha Bugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book (Bugs in a Box Books) (Hardcover)
This book is highly recommended. My 8 month old daughter will read this with me at least 4 times a day, and never tires of it. She is fascinated by all the pop ups, especially the 'pink powder puff bug' and the 'itsy bitsy inchworm'. I can see this book is going to be much loved, and we are now David Carter converts!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the only book my son will actually look at!, December 5, 1998

This review is from: Alpha Bugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book (Bugs in a Box Books) (Hardcover)
I have several of David Carters books and LOVE them. No other books will hold my 10 month old sons attention. When we finish reading all of them, he always wants to read them again. I highly recommend these books to any parent searching for something that their kids will actually look at and learn from.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warning: Highly Addictive!, October 7, 2002

My 1-year-old loves this book so much that I have to hide it from her after I've read it several times in a row. She cries when we put it down and shrieks with joy when we take it out. About half of the pop-ups are simple enough for her to do on her own. However, she has to "read" the book under supervision or else she'd accidentally pull it apart.

David visited my Kindergarten class yesterday and the children were totally engrossed in the books. The CD's are amoung the best kindergarten cd's I've seen. A teacher for 25 years, I find David's books the very top of the line!!

5.0 out of 5 stars From a mom of book-loving toddlers: this is a classic., November 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Alpha Bugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book (Bugs in a Box Books) (Hardcover)
Most pop-up books are curiosities that don't really work as books to read...this one does! Funny words, fresh images, and 26 totally different pop-up creations. (That's 2-3 times the number of pop-up pages in most books.) You can really spend a while with it. I'd rank Alpha Bugs right up there with Dr. Seuss ABCs as the most engaging and entertaining ABC books. My 2-year old loves, loves, loves it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Alpha Bugs, January 31, 2002

This review is from: Alpha Bugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book (Bugs in a Box Books) (Hardcover)
Alpha Bugs is fun alphabet pop-up book. My only complaint is that even though the pop-ups are pretty simple, they are not very sturdy.

My 16 month old son loves this book! The pictures are really cute and imaginative although many do not really resemble bugs. All in all a fun book but not destined to be loved forever since there is no story.

My son loves this book. I have read it over 100 times. It teaches him the alphabet while entertaining him as well. We have two copies (one to play with and one to read).

5.0 out of 5 stars Super ABC Book with Terrific Pop Ups and Illustrations, November 6, 2011
Both of my kids loved looking through David Carter bug books. Maybe it's all the eyes peeking out or the cute faces. Whatever the reason, if they liked the books I was going to read them often.

This book, which has a page for every letter bug as well as an alliteration of words is well illustrated with classic David Carter pop ups. They twist, turn, pop out or are even layered under numerous doors. Every page has something fun to offer all while reading about the ABC bugs. Ours has lasted through two kids and careful use.
