2.0 out of 5 stars Just fair...., November 9, 2011
This review is from: Alpha Bravo Delta Guide to Decisive 20th-Century American Battles (Paperback)
Lets see, according to this book Nelson won Trafalgar by the classic maneuver of crossing the T. Where, where does this information come from? Actually, he broke into the line...which is about the polar opposite of "crossing the T".

The book also gives the impression that in the battle of Leyte Gulf, Taffy 3 charged the oncoming Japanese to give Taffy's 1 and 2 time to get their planes engaged. Actually,Taffy 3's destroyers engaged, while the rest of Taffy 3, being wise seamen, fled like bandits.

These are just the glaring examples.

I realize this is meant to be concise...but no need to invent history in order to condense it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good introduction to American wars, January 18, 2004

"g-junior" (Sao Paulo, Brazil) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alpha Bravo Delta Guide to Decisive 20th-Century American Battles (Paperback)
This book is a concise introduction to the wars America was involved on the 20th century, covering up to Somalia, 1993. It starts with a brief about the Spanish- American war at 1898 and the WWI, where American forces were called "our Italians" by the British (US it to England as Italy to Deutchsland). Through the time, despite all the problems on the way and turn downs as Vietnan, the book shows how US defense forces became the most respected war machine of the century.

As not american and not having great knowledge on the topic, I found the book excelent and very informative, and also better wrote than the others in the serie.
