Thank you for your feedback.
The coat does fit somewhat small and I would suggest buying a size up.
Reading the reviews I ordered 2 sizes up and it still is too small.
The size was very small and tight think if your a 2xl you need a 4 xl.

Hello, I saw these reviews and saw a running issue I thought I could help with my experiance with these coats. I've been the Navy for going on eight years, if you'd lie some credentials on the matter.
The current issue pea coat is most certainly not designed for a whole lot of activity, though if sized right it's perfectly servicable for most any normal activity. As far as sizing goes bear in mind these are made under the expectation of tailoring. In fact, unless you are a perfect rectangle then expect to run this down to the tailor.
Most all uniform items are made this way, so if you are slim waited with broad shoulders, get this taken in, if your sleeves are too long they will need to be taken up. If you are on the round side with a bigger waist then chest, either you have to buy the largest size available and have it altered extensively (upper alterations are very expensive and hard to pull off) or go with another product. Remember, these coats were never designed for that body shape, and even sailors who get a little round from being off the deckplates too long start to look ridiculous in these things.
Hope this helps, everyone, I'm just glad that after eight years I still fit my issue peacoat as originally tailoed in boot camp.

This coat was a pleasant surprise as I have yet to find a coat to fit my odd frame of 5'5" and 200 lbs.(164.6 cm and about 91kg for the rest of the world.) For the most part it manages to fit me quite well, aside from the sleeves, which are about 2-3 inches too long, but this is due to my arm length being atypical rather than the coat itself. I anticipated this would be the case and will have it altered soon. I do recommend the coat to others and find the other reviews to be mostly accurate. You will need to buy a size up from 'typical' sizes and if you have shorter arms,do expect to have the sleeves taken up a bit.

I'm not sure if I don't know anything about coats or what, since everyone keeps saying to size up, but I'd really advise you to size down on this coat. Normally a 36 in suit sizing, 5'8" and 135lb, I ordered a size small. The coat goes a little bit over my shoulders, and looks similar to how a suit jacket would look if you got one that was too big for you. It's actually pretty excusable for a winter coat, which is mean to be worn over many layers in the freezing cold, but I definitely would NOT size up. Guys have the terrible habit of always wearing things too big (notice how most guys' t-shirts fit over their arm rather than on their shoulder?) and you shouldn't follow on that trend. Wear your usual size, or size down. DO NOT SIZE UP!

That being said, the coat could use a bit of tailoring. I'm pretty slim, and unless you're my height and 160 or more, I think that you should go get it taken in on the sides. The arms are also kind of billowy (but I also have no muscle), though the sleeves seem to be just right for me. I kind of think that this coat had function over form more in mind when it was made, especially since this coat was meant for the navy. But since it was meant for the navy, it's an excellent coat that is well constructed and will keep you warm.

I purchased this coat for my son, who loves military history. He says the coat feels authentic (noting the "felting"). The seller, Elite Hero, asked for a positive review - and I feel they earned it. The price seemed fair. The delivery time was good. I would buy more products from them; and would recommend them to a friend.

When I was in the Navy in Nam, I use to buy the pea coats at least one or two each year. Either I would lose it or I would give it away to some chick overseas. After I got out of the Navy, I let lose a lot of my stuff, like uniforms, jackets, cracker jacks, salt & peppers and even gave my pea coat away. Anyway, long story short, I have been kicking myself in the butt a million times because I should have at least kept the pea coat. Finally I got off my duff and bought one from Amazon. This pea coat is just about the closest thing that you'll get to a real Naval pea coat other than either hitching up in the Navy or either buy one from a Navy supply store, which I doubt you'll find one that is decent and fits properly. After locating this one, I ordered one and it was a tad bit too tight for me. I stand at 5' 11" tall, weigh in at 207 and have a chest size of 48. The jacket could be buttoned up, but it was tight. I have other pea coats and they fit pretty good. However, this one was a bit tight. The sleeves were good in length, but a little tight up under the arms and you could not stretch out with your arms without possible tearing the shoulders seems. I like the idea of free shipping to and from if needed. So I ask for a refund and now I am hear ordering another one that is one size larger than the other.

The reason why I really want to buy this one is because it is the closest thing that I could find that is a real Naval pea coat. And yes, it is made in China. The coat is heavy like the real pea coat and would not recommend wearing it without a shirt and t-shirt because it will itch a lot. It is thick wool. For myself, I bought the black coat. Oh, I forgot, the buttons are anchors buttons. Other pea coats that I have bought do not have anchor buttons and this coat also has 9 buttons, 4 on each side and one in the inside. I hope I have helped in some small way of you deciding to buy this one or moving on down the line.
