Product Description

Come along on the ultimate road-trip adventure that will leave the whole family howling with laughter! When Kate, a take-charge “Alpha” wolf, and Humphrey, a laid-back “Omega” wolf, get snatched by park rangers and relocated halfway across the country, the two must set off on an incredible journey home! With the help of a goofy golfing goose and his quacky duck caddy, Kate and Humphrey won’t let anything stop them – prickly porcupines, grumpy bears, even a speeding locomotive – from getting back to Jasper Park in time to help save their pack from rival wolves! And along the way, Kate and Humphrey learn that even though they are complete opposites, they make a pretty good team! It’s a thousand miles of fun in this wildly entertaining journey the whole pack can enjoy together!

Amazon.com

Love is blind to the rules of tradition, opposites attract, and both clichés apply quite nicely to the wolves in Alpha and Omega. In the wolf world, the pack values the omega wolves' skill of defusing tense situations with humor just as much as they value the keen leadership skills of the alpha wolves, but tradition dictates that alpha wolves don't mate with omega wolves. So, when the all-business alpha wolf Kate (Hayden Panettiere) and the fun-seeking omega wolf Humphrey (Justin Long) find themselves attracted to one another, the pair resign themselves to a life apart, and Kate agrees to a match with alpha male Garth (Chris Carmack) from a rival pack in order to peacefully merge the two packs into one. But when Humphrey and Kate are tranquilized in their home in Jasper National Forest, Canada, and relocated to Sawtooth Forest far away in Idaho, the two discover that not only can opposites work very well together, but that neither of them can continue to ignore their attraction for the other. The question is, will working together, combined with a little help from a golf-playing goose and his duck caddy, be enough to get the pair all the way back to Jasper National Park before the rival wolf packs tear one another apart at the next full moon? And what will become of their relationship if they do return in time? This animated 3-D film is amusing and entertaining, if not particularly outstanding. A lot of the humor is pretty corny and the plot has been done many times before (think Open Season 2), but the characters are likable, the action is pretty good, and who can resist chuckling at images like a retired, golf-playing French-Canadian goose or the distractive powers of a good cupcake? (Ages 5 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

A good movie to watch with the kids.

Don't expect this movie to feel like watching the lives of wolves because it feels nothing like that.

My 5 year old son really likes this movie - he watched it 3 times in the last 24 hours!

Alpha and Omega has all the features of a good film. It has endearing characters, a classic plot, and lots of humor mixed in too. I'm 16, and I really enjoyed the film. You'll find yourself laughing one minute and "aww-ing" the next. I actually felt that the animation was fairly good, and the plot, while certainly not original, was a classic winner. As long as you still haven't lost connection with your inner child, I guarantee you that this movie will be a good buy.

Despite all the poor reviews online, my 6-yr old daughter loves this movie. Although I have not had the opportunity to sit down with her to watch the entire film, I will admit there is a lot of adult humor (like most children's movies nowadays... Look at Toy Story 3 and SpongeBob.) No matter... picture quality good, and my daughter really wanted to add this movie to her collection. At Target's unbeatable sale price of $9.00, it was a good buy too.

My daughter 21 months loves this movie and keeps watching it over and over.

I like that it is about animals and that it doesnt have a bad guy in it or something scary.

Great movie for my children to watch, was a little worried about the suggestive nature of the howling and dancing at the beginning, but overall entertaining.

Alpha & Omega is not bad, but not great either.

Overall:
The movie has some funny moments, and it was quite cute at times. I'm a 23 year old guy, and I found some parts of it to be pretty funny, and I really liked the cute moments. I also really liked the CG art style of the film, but at times it suffers from rather mediocre animation. The story and characters are okay, but they are a little lacking. Honestly, this is a movie that you'll probably enjoy watching for a bit, but won't remember very long because it doesn't do a fantastic job on anything except for it's style (it really does have an endearing style, though).

Animation:
The movie's CG effects had a very stylized look to it that was reminiscent of cell-shading at times due to the bright color palette. This works out pretty well because it has a very unique look to it. Sometimes the backgrounds even ended up looking like paintings. Overall, I liked it. The characters looked pretty good, and quite cute at times, but the character models seemed a bit basic at times. The animation of the characters was pretty mediocre. Most of the time it looked pretty good, but there were quite a few times that I felt that the movements felt a little stiff or awkward.

Story:
The story is pretty simple. I must say that some of the character reactions did surprise me a little because they deviated a bit from my expectations (which is a good thing). But, for the most part, the story was unsurprising and bland. Most of it didn't really evoke much emotion. It almost feels like this story could have been told in 30 minutes, but then the plot element of the wolves being kidnapped was thrown in to lengthen the story without adding much valuable material to the film.

Certainly not the coolest animation movie I've seen, ... but certainly not the worst either. Actually it was reasonable good I suppose. Watched it with our 6 year old son, ... and he did like it. One of the scenes he liked most was those poor birds dropping from the sky, when ... (well I won't spoil it). Me... I liked the Canadian turkey with his caddy.

The story on its own was I suppose ok, ... a bit too cute, too sweet perhaps,....puppy love. But,... I don't know, somehow they pull it together after all. I mean,... I enjoyed it, laughed,.. most of all, I loved my sons reaction to it. He was entertained and laughed a lot.

I think I appreciate the makers effort in trying to use a different type of animal then usual in the leading role. Wolves! And usually wolves would be in the `bad/evil' role. I remember wondering at the beginning of the movie how they were going to pull this off I mean, weather they would succeed in portraying the wolves as "good". Because next to being in the "good" role, they also had to show the "strong" and "meaner" character of the wolves. I think they succeeded pretty well.

I purchased this movie because my son wanted to see it. It was only on Netflix for a short period of time and he loves it.

It was release on Blu-Ray 3D in France, but apparently America is still inexplicably waiting.
