I've owned a Tumi laptop computer case (from a similar earlier line) since 1994, which I still use and which is still in good shape. When the time came to replace my existing leather business briefcase, I looked first at the Tumi Alpha Organizer Portfolio Brief 026108DH (3.5 inches thick) and the larger 026109DH (4.5 inches thick). The smaller Tumi 026108DH met my needs exactly. It holds enough for the daily commute without tempting me to carry more than I should (bad back). The materials and construction are very high quality, the case itself doesn't weigh very much, the handles and the shoulder strap are strong enough to carry whatever will fit into the case, the outside pockets provide useful storage and enough different sizes to assist with organizing my stuff, the shoulder strap is well-padded and swivels to permit the case to hang and to move freely, and the larger pocket includes a second hidden identity tag and a key ring holder. The main compartment includes a folding divider that assists with organization. The case includes (in one of the pockets) a numbered identity tag that can identify the owner if the case is lost or stolen, provided the case is registered with Tumi. If I frequently carried large amounts of papers and documents, I would look at the larger Tumi Alpha Organizer Portfolio Brief 026109DH or one of the even larger Tumi briefcases.

Tumi is the leader in well-made luggage and briefs. This is my second Tumi Brief (smaller than my first) and is the perfect size for the ever decreasing size of computers and tablets. My only issue is my original brief came with a padded removable carrier for a laptop which the Alpha Organizer does not. Other than that, I really enjoy the smaller and much lighter size.

Purchased this as a gift for my husband a few years ago. he uses it every day on his train commute into NYC. he does not use it for a laptop. it has held up extremely well and is still in near perfect condition after 2 years of daily usage. great bag and would definitely recommend. (purchased in brown)

2 complaints: the spacing between the U-shaped pockets can trap lots of dirt and grime. I find the smaller U-shaped pocket kind of useless; it's too small for most water bottles and too deep to be accessible.
