Super Value!,
This review is from: Alpha Sport 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat - Rugby (Baby Product)
I just went to Babies-R-Us with the intention of buying a Graco convertible car seat, but ended up with this one instead. I love it! Here is why:
1. It is lightweight and not at all bulky. It fits easily into the backseat of our Saturn Ion. Also, if you plan to switch it between cars, it is light enough that it isn't a burden. 2. The fabric is very nice, and appears easy to clean. One thing I noticed about the fabric on the Graco convertible car seats was they they were soft, but attracted lint and pet hair like fleece. I am sure crumbs would be very noticable. You can easily wipe down the Alpha Sport fabric, or take it off completely for a cleaning. 3. The fabric and padding fit the frame very well. I could see the foam through each seatbelt slots on the Graco's, but not the Alpha Sport. Also, the covers on the Graco's were a little loose, making it easy for little hands to pull them off. 4. You really get a lot for the money. The car seat comes equiped with various head supports/pillows and body supports. It looked and felt just like the more expensive Eddie Bauer models. And as an added bonus, you can use this car seat from 5-80 pounds! No need to buy a booster seat in a couple of years!

Great with one drawback,

I like Cosco car seats. I have 2 different kinds & both are great.
This one is a true infant-toddler-booster with enough padding for each stage. infant get head support, back pad, both of which come off when the child becomes a toddler. then, there is a nice pillow for toddler. The head rest is adjustable not while installed though. Then, it becomes booster. Yes, this fabric is the best i have seen, even better than Eddie bauer. the only drawback is that it has 2-stage recline feature which needs removing from the car, which is sort of painful. But the seat belts can be adjusted while seat in the car. for the money, this is the best deal i can think of. In other reviews, i have seen Cosco car seats saving children's lives in crashes.

We bought this car seat to use while we were visiting family in NY. We live in FL and didn't want to lug our seat back and forth every time we travel. Honestly, I chose this seat based on price. We have the Britax Roundabout at home and I absolutely love it. However, I just couldn't see spending that much for a seat we'll use only 2 or 3 times a year. With today's safety standards I knew that even though this one is significantly less expensive than the one we already own it was going to be just as safe. So we got this one and I am very pleased. It was very easy to install, my son (14 months old at the time) was very comfortable, and I felt that he was just as safe as in this seat as in our one at home. If my husband ever gets rid of his truck and we need a 2nd car seat I would definitely purchase this one again. Another added bonus is that it also can be rear-facing infant seat and a booster seat as well for when he gets older. When I was researching car seats some of the main complaints with ANY seat were twisting straps, hard installations, uncomfortable kids...we had none of these problems with this seat. So if you're looking for a less expensive car seat and don't want to compromise safety and comfort this is a great choice.

3 in 1 Convertible Car Seat -- Rugby,

This item sounded like a winner since I have grandchildren ranging in age from 2 months to 5 years. Yesterday my 2-year-old granddaughter used it for the first time. She complained that the piece between her legs was uncomfortable as she was wearing a dress so it pressed into her bare skin. On the return ride from church she cried so much I had to leave that part undone, certainly not very safe, but it saved our nerves. I don't know if I will ever again be able to use it, even if she is wearing pants since she now hates it. She is not overweight -- the piece just is located right between her legs rather than on her abdomen.

We have the Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 convertible carseat for our car and love it. We needed an economical equivilant for the grandma/nanny car and saw this one and the print was almost exactly the same. The only difference with this seat is that it doesn't have the armrests like the Eddie Bauer, but everything else is almost identical! In fact, this one was EASIER to install and adjust the straps because the Eddie Bauer comes in a base and you have to take the entire seat and carseat cover off and unthread the whole strap unit just to take the infant headrest off and raise the belts. This one was a piece of cake and took my mom and I less than 5 minutes and we didn't even read the directions!
I highly recommend as a cheaper alternative to the Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 convertible carseat!

Almost perfect...but not quite,

I bought this car seat primarily because it was able to go from rear facing to forward facing to a booster, and I'd heard too many complaints about the Eddie Bauer (size, price, etc). It was very easy to adjust the straps and it was easy to install (I had the fire department do it, but they showed me step by step, and I could do it on my own). It fits in the backseat of my Honda Civic, and I can still put both of the seats almost all the way back. My daughter likes the cushioning and she doesn't try to sit forward in it, like she did in her infant seat. My only complaint (which I've seen before, and why I'm giving it 4 stars) is that it's hard to use the harness adjusting strap when it's rear facing....thanksfully, this problem will go away in 3 months when my daughter turns 1!

Inconvenient as a rear facing infant seat,

My wife and I reviewed many of the customer reviews for this and other car seats. It sounded good, and at the store looked great. We purchased it as our first choice. When we got it home and put it in our Minivan, we were surprised to find out how cumbersome it was to use. The strap for tightening the belts is made to pull down, but when placed in the vehicle rear facing, must be pulled up. This caused a lot of binding to occur and made the harness very difficult to secure. We also found that the Latch system had similar problems due to the angle of pull when tightening it. We were surprised at how much space we needed between the seats for this car seat to fit. We had to move the front seats forward to make enough space. We also found the seat very difficult to get level and had to use several towels rolled up to get it level. We tried the seat in both sides of the van and neither worked well. As our son is only 5 months, we are not sure if these problems would continue once the seat is turned forward facing but will not wait to see. We do not recommend this for anyone using/needing a rear facing seat. Because of our disappointment, we are returning this seat to the store where we purchased it and will be looking for a better alternative.

Great for smaller cars!,

I bought this carseat for my second car, because after spending almost $200 on my daughters Eddie Bauer seat, we found out it doesn't fit, rearfacing, in the back of our two door car, however it is awesome in our SUV! I chose this seat, because the design of it is so much like our other one, yet it is more compact. We have found, that the buckle is to low... it pinches little legs. Most carseats, the buckle sits right below the belly button, but this one doesn't. She is only 9 months old now, so she hasn't complained about it yet, but I am worried that as she gets older, if she wears shorts or dresses, she will be uncomfortable. My only other complaint is that the pattern is not very appealing and it is the only one available at this time!

I think this item is well worth the money. I did tons of research on carseats before buying this one and we are glad we chose it. It is a little more difficult to get installed in our truck than our first cars seat, but we love it and our daughter loves it too. She seems more comfortable in it. Definately worth the money

This carseat was easy for me to install without my husbands help!! It has soft padding for my baby's bottom and back which we love and it is very reasonably priced. Great carseat for the money.
