Good Wheeled Briefcase, December 6, 2010
This review is from: Tumi Alpha Wheeled Deluxe Brief With Computer Insert 26104 (Apparel)
I needed a briefcase with wheels - once I add papers for work, a computer, power-cord, etc., my brief case gets too heavy for me to lug it through airports or to meetings a couple of blocks away. I have used a Tumi briefcase that is similar to this one, but without wheels, for years.
I was a little wary getting this briefcase because there is a prior review on Amazon that says that it is too big to fit on airplanes yet too small to carry enough stuff. Fortunately, that review is not correct.
The brieface has three storage areas. In the front is a large area in which I keep folders, notes and legal pads. In the middle is the computer compartment. In the back is a section with a few seprate file folders and places for pens and other things. Also, on the front are four zippered comparatments. All of the areas and compartments are big enough to be useful. It does not have as much storage space as a trial bag, but it is bigger than any other briefcase I have used.
I have had no trouble fitting the briefcase in the overhead bins of airplanes. It fit easily in the bins of an A320 and in the smaller, pull-down middle storage units on a 767. I have not tried it on a small shuttle, but I expect that it would fit there as well.
Overall, it is a solidly built, functional briefcase. The wheels work well and make it much easier to travel with.

Traveling Too Much, January 22, 2011
This review is from: Tumi Alpha Wheeled Deluxe Brief With Computer Insert 26104 (Apparel)
I recently had my Hartmann Studio Travel bag bite the dust after way too many years of use. My significant other and I went out to Macy's last week to look for alternative solutions, and being frugal, we settled on the apparently logical choice of Samsonite Silhouette 11 luggage, with the first piece being a rolling briefcase, and ordering 20" and 26" suitcases to match (they were on "sale" at 60% off). Well the short story is that the zippers on the Samsonite rolling briefcase started separating on the first trip out to Philadelphia. I visited Robbinson Luggage in downtown Philadelphia, and after viewing multiple traveling briefcase solutions, fell in love with the TUMI wheeled computer briefcase. Very high quality construction, with multiple logical locations for all your travel gear, including a pocket that fits the case for BOSE noise cancellers! Yes, this solution is not the lightest solution available, but in particular I liked the integration features with other TUMI pieces, as well as the fact that this is an extremely sturdy, well constructed standalone unit. Based on the first return trip, I don't expect to see any "surprises" with this unit, as all of the pieces are solidly built. 15" is the largest laptop you'll fit into the removable laptop carrying case. I've jettisoned the Samsonite, and am already looking at purchasing a 20 or 22" TUMI travel bag. Impressive!

too heavy and bulky, not good that it cannot be extended, October 19, 2009
I own other tumi stuff including the handback. This one is way too heavy, it fits almost nothing, it does not expand and it is really bulky.
It does not fit in the airplane compartment of smaller planes, only in 777--like the ones going to Asia or Europe from america. It has a computer slip inside that it is useless.
In sum, I would not buy it again and i regret having spent $500 on it!
