A Kid's Review
This review is from: Alphabet Alphabets (Audio CD)
If you're like me, which you're not, but if you are, you're wonder just what exactly is original post-hardcore\hardcore. You've heard the claims about uh...well...EVERY band about their incapibility of producing anything orginal. Yet the people behind the accusations usualy can never give you an "original" band to listen to. So much so, that the term 'unoriginal' has been degraded to just a reason to not like a band by self proclaimed music eleitests and scene kids (while they're liking another band exactly like it) proving their incompetentness.

You want an original band? You got it. Enter Tropy Scars. They combind breath taking lyrics throughly thought out that would turn 'the scene' upside down and walk them off a cliff. Hopefuly. Anyways, they combind that with almost emotive hardcore/emo voilence influences, more evident in their earlier works. I've never heard more passionate vocals. The keyboard have never been used more effectivly. I've never heard a rap segment in the middle of a post-hardcore song, and I wish I haven't still, but it proves their creativity and broadness. All this along with that post hardcore sound everyone loves to hate, to make something that is genuinely original. It's not progressive. It's not experimental. Those terms have lost all meaning with bands that write 15 minute epics and claim it to be original when they're on tour with 5 bands just like them. No, this is something..more. It's hard to explain. Their sounds is more unique and eccentric, there is not very many other words to describe their sound without having a negitive influence attatched.

Quite honestly, I could write a book on Trophy Scars. There arn't many bands I respect more, if any. These guys will never be big, they will never be popular, and most people wont like them. But this is music to your ears if you're a REAL music fan. And no, that doesn't include you, Mrs. My Chemical Romance, Silverstein, *name any band in the same ballpark*, the list goes on. Find their MySpace or Purevolume and give them a listen before you buy this. It's not made for everyone, and it's not meant to be. But if you crave something genuine, un-scene influenced, and are seeking the true meaning of original, you've found a home in Trophy Scars.

I heard of Trophy Scars about a year ago and never really gave them a chance. Finally i heard of this CD and listened to it. It is sick. They are very different than your average band if your into original bands.
My favorite song have to be Alchemist. Alchemists. Check them out..

Wow. This band is effing amazing. It's becoming harder to impress me nowadays with so many bands producing garbage that is just a ripoff of past bands that have already done it so well. The "scene" is focusing even more on what you look like than what you sound like. If that is NOT what you're looking for in a post-hardcore band, then Trophy Scars is for you. This is a band that is making progress in post-hardcore and that is hard to find. I'd also recommend their EP Goodnight Alchemy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A musical accomplishment, December 29, 2006

The diversity of this album is just insane. From hip hop to screamo to post-hardcore, it's all here, and it's all amazing.

The vocals here are drool-worthy. The screams and yells are anything but smooth sounding, but damn, are they suiting to the agressive drumming and angry guitar.

This is an absolute must-have for ANY fan of screamo or post-hardcore music. Or if you just appreciate diversity in general, get this. Now.
