A whole curriculum for 3 bucks!,
By Holly Rose (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Alphabet Book (Pictureback(R)) (Paperback)
I picked this book up with no expectations at all. It ended up being the main book we have used all year to learn the alphabet. It's so great!!! The best thing about this book is that the alphabet runs down the side of each page so when you are on the "E" page for example you have the whole alphabet listed down the side of the page with E highlighted. I taught my daughter to run her fingers down the side going "A, B, C , D " etc. etc. as she had memorized the alphabet song. If she did this carefully then she would get to the highlighted letter and know what it was by using the song. This way she could read the book herself, turn to any page and find out what the letter was on her own. This helped her very much with recognizing the letters. We literally used this book several times a week as her main preschool book (we homeschool). I highly recommend it. You can't go wrong for the price!!

Another hit with the one year old crowd,
This review is from: The Alphabet Book (Bright & Early Board Books(TM)) (Board book)
My daughter loves this book, maybe even more than her beloved, tattered "Are You My Mother" board book. I bet we have read this one a hundred times since Xmas!! The illustrations are wonderful and the alphabet "rhymes" are hilarious. I am in the process of purchasing all of PD Eastmans board books for her-I enjoy them as much as she does!

Quick, entertaining alphabet book,

This review is from: The Alphabet Book (Bright & Early Board Books(TM)) (Board book)
While this is not as involved as Dr. Suesses ABC's it is great when you or your child wants a quicker alphabet book. With entertaining illustrations and allitertative examples (Octopus with Oars, Penguins in Parachutes, Queen with Quarter), this book is a nice way to go through the alphabet. My only (very minor) complaint, is that a few of the things are a bit obscure. For example, our little one calls the Infant with Ice Cream a baby, and the Juggler with Jackolaterns, a dog with pumpkins. Aside from that it is a great book at a great price. In general, I am a big fan of the little board books, as a number of pages in our paper page books became casualties of our childs first couple years.
