My son loves this book and all of the Alphabet books by Audrey Wood. We started reading them together when he was 2 1/2 and the books quickly became his favorites. He has them all memorized and we incorporate "ABC adventures" into stories that we make up for him every night before he goes to sleep. I highly, highly recommend this book and the others by Audrey Wood.

My three year old fell in love with the first two books in this series. She is now four and was ecstatic to receive the newest book, Alphabet Rescue, for Christmas. She love getting to know the upper and lower case letters!

What a way to learn the Alphabet!,
This review is from: Alphabet Rescue (Hardcover)
I happened to stumble across this at the library and since my son loves fire trucks it seemed like a good way to sneak in some Alphabet learning. After all, what did I have to lose? Now, I want to get all the Woods Alphabet books (and maybe some others)!
My 4 year old has always been interested in books but he tends toward vehicle themes which aren't usually very educational. That's why we love Alphabet Rescue! The story following both the alphabet and the fire truck is very engaging. As a parent I also like how they sneak in extra words with the rescues. For us, it's a great way to review the Alphabet and some early reading. The only down-side? I am starting to get tired of reading this as my son wants to read it so often!

Brodie Jumbercotta's Review 09/20/2011,
This review is from: Alphabet Rescue (Hardcover)
Charlie packed and went to his grandma's house. The little letters saved Alphabet City by putting out fires. Charlie's vacation was over, and so was the letters' vacation. I rated this book five stars. I like this book becasue it's funny. It's funny and fictional. I would recommend this book to moms, dads, and cousins.

My young children enjoy this story over and over.
It always brings a smile to their face when they hear Audrey Wood's name. She's one of our favorite authors and as a parent I feel like whenever I buy one of her books, it's a sure shot. Alphabet Rescue is a story that allows the underdog to come to the rescue. It's exciting and a book for any age.

This book, and others in the series, is fantastic for getting kids interested in letters and reading. The personification of the letters is clever and cute. Adults will notice, and can point out, subtleties that children might miss. For example, the letters that are washing a dirty car are M, u, and d. And the letters that need rescuing from the fire are all little "e's"-- like a scream! The pictures are captivating and, like I said, all three books grab my daughter's attention and make it fun to identify the little letters, which mostly go untaught until kids enter school. I highly recommend Alphabet Adventure, Alphabet Rescue, and Alphabet Mystery! They are books I don't mind reading over and over again!

Children love this book especially since it reinforces letter, both uppercase and lowercase, with an enjoyable story line. Great book to give your pre-school / kindergartener who is learning their alphabet. The children I read this to, loved it.

A good time identifying and finding the 'little' letters of the alphabet embedded in a gay story.,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alphabet Rescue (Hardcover)
Audrey Wood and Bruce Wood's ALPHABET RESCUE is a pick for elementary-grade schools where kids are learning the alphabet basics. A colorful blend of full-page photos and drawings embellishes the story of little letters from Charley's Alphabet who are disappointed when the capital letters won't let them have fun with the grown-up fire truck. So they decide to build one of their own. Kids receive a basic introduction to phonics games and will have a good time identifying and finding the 'little' letters of the alphabet embedded in a gay story.
