This review is from: Alphazoo Christmas (Hardcover)
As the head of the bedtime story reading group in our house I'm always on the lookout for new tongue twisters and vocabulary builders. That's why I grabbed a copy of AlphaZoo Christmas, an alphabet picture book that combines two of my sons' favorite topics: Animals and Christmas.

However, the book would've never made it home had I bothered to thumb to the pages for I, Q and U:

I - Interested iquana impresses icy individual
Q--Quick-stepping quetzals quiet quintuplets
U--Unsteady uakari utilizes umbrella

This is not a rhyming book nor is it a tongue-twister. In fact, we spent most of our time scratching our heads to figure out what was going on. The illustrations were muted depictions of each letter's list of words but not a single one elicited the "ooh-ahh" response I expect from children's picture books.

In summary, if you want an alphabet book or a tongue-twister, pick up Dr. Seuss's ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book! or Fox in Socks, respectively. If you want a Christmas book with "ooh-ahh" illustrations, pick up either Santa Claus the World's Number One Toy Expert by Marla Frazee or Christmas Magic by Sue Stainton.
