These are great little gifts that anyone with a laptop, camera, smartphone, glasses, or electronic device with a smudged screen must have.

This is a nice little lens cleaner, but please let me just say hello to the major design flaw with it? The little pouch it comes in does not close, so the little cloth is constantly coming out of the sleeve in your pocket or backpack and picking up god only knows what grime and dust from whatever it comes in contact with. Then they want me to turn around and rub this on...

These are great little gifts that anyone with a laptop, camera, smartphone, glasses, or electronic device with a smudged screen must have.

They're pretty small, maybe no bigger than a crunched up dollar bill. The cloth has a surface area the size of a CD case, so it's perfect for small electronics. I'm aware that the company also sells larger versions of this product, so look around for that if you need something bigger.

But why should you get microfiber cloths in the first place? Why not use a paper towel, a bath tower, or even your tshirt? I can't tell you the exact science behind it, but apparently there are tons of little fibers in the cloth that make it better at picking up small dust particles. Just make sure you clean them every once in a while otherwise it'll be just like cleaning a screen with a dirty sheet of paper.
If you need to know more about microfiber, check out its page on Wikipedia or just enter "microfiber" into your favorite search engine!

This is a nice little lens cleaner, but please let me just say hello to the major design flaw with it? The little pouch it comes in does not close, so the little cloth is constantly coming out of the sleeve in your pocket or backpack and picking up god only knows what grime and dust from whatever it comes in contact with. Then they want me to turn around and rub this on my camera lens?

Seriously, what were they thinking? Why not make the pouch close so the cloth stays clean? Wtf?

I've been using these for years and they are a great help in some situations. They do a great job of removing finger smudges and smears, and can be used with lens cleaning fluid (applied to the cloth) for more stubborn crud. The cloth is not absorbent enough to remove alot of water, so I sometimes carry a paper napkin as a blotter. I use them on my binoculars, spotting scopes and cameras. There are obvious cautions: if there is any dust or grit that might be abrasive on the lens, rubbing with anything is a very bad idea. I do use the cloth in the field to kind of brush or lift such dirt very carefully. A brush would be much better but of course I never carry one. Once you have done that, it is necessary to clean the cloth before using again, however. I unclip the bag and put it in my pocket to remind myself to clean the cloth. Sometimes dust can just be brushed away by hand. Best idea is a thorough rinsing, and that's why a 4 star rating instead of 5. The cloth is sewn into the bottom of the bag, making it impossible to clean as well as I would like. Some sort of clip retainer would make cleaning much easier. As it is, the bag can be turned inside out to facilitate cleaning. I know many people (including me) sometimes go a long time between cleaning, and at some point the crud imbedded in the cloth will reduce cleaning effectiveness and increase danger of scratching. Overall, a convenient way to clean lenses in the field with minimum danger of damage.

This cleaning cloth is smaller than many I have used in the past, but it does the job well and of course you can't beat the convenience of having it built-in to a clip-on pouch. I use it to clean camera lenses and equipment but it also works well for eye glasses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient and effective, March 8, 2007

This cleaning cloth is very effective and convenient. I originally bought one to hang from my camera strap so that it would always be there - It was nice to be able to clean my lens without having to dig around for a cloth. I was so impressed that I bought four more and gave them to some of my friends. I have since replaced the cloth with Spudz large 18% grey cloth and moved this cloth to my key chain. As a glasses wearer, I have never had my glasses consistently cleaner. This is one of those well designed products that excels at everything you would want it to do.

This is a well thought out product that goes in your pocket and does the job of cleaning your eyeglasses better than any other product I've tried over the past 25 years. Great price too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job..., July 2, 2009
This review is from: Alpine Innovations Spudz Microfiber Cloth in Black Pouch, 6X6 (Electronics)
This is a decent product. it does what it's supposed to. however, the actual cloth isn't very soft (but doesn't scratch) and it's kinda hard to get it back into the bag. It works.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for traveling, October 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Alpine Innovations Spudz Microfiber Cloth in Black Pouch, 6X6 (Electronics)
This lens cleaner works well, especially for traveling because of the pouch. However, the pouch makes it take 3 times longer to use than a standard cloth because the cloth is attached to the inside of it and therefore you must unpack and pack it every time you use it. That's the reason I docked it one star.

It works, 'nuff said. Easily washed, hang to dry, stick it back in your pocket/camera bag/glasses case. The pouch is ingenious and keeps the cloth from getting dirty, so it's always clean for using on your lenses or glasses. Great product.
