Alpine SPS400 / SPS-400 / SPS-400 4 Coaxial 2-Way Speaker Set

I bought these Alpine Type-S SPS-400 to replace my front speakers & tweeters in my grand am. The built-in tweeters on these speakers are excellent even being down by my leg on the door they deliver crisp highs and a good mid-range.

so Pros: good-great highs, good mids. good price online. Not much choice for good speakers at 4"

Cons: unsatisfying bass (not that they are intended for bass use, but I have to turn the bass on my alpine head unit down and more sound to the back speakers if I crank the volume up otherwise the bass is distorted.

I just installed these speakers for a MK1 Toyota MR2.

They are an excellent substitue for OEM speakers, and better than most brands out there.

As the box says, they come with a High Performance Tweeter, as such they reproduce most of the musical range of a song, although it is true, it does lack deep bass, however, it is a 4 inch speaker with tweeter, if you want bass, thats what the other speakers in the car are for.

Overall very satisfied with the purchase, installation was easy, the box includes:

- 2 Speakers
- 2 Strips of Foam
- Bolts and Guides for installation
- Speaker door mounting bases
- Cables with already stripped ends.

The only thing that I can find wrong is that they did not come with a speaker grill.

Look to be well made, and sound "OK." Admittedly I bought the smaller size to fit a factory hole, but their sound quality just isn't exceptional.

Also disappointing is that they don't come with grills of any sort - all you get is the speaker, some screws, and short wires to hook them up. I made covers, but wasn't expecting that glaring omission.

Highly recommend after replace my Honda Odyssey factory speakers.Create very high quality sound even without amplifier installed.
