A first rate amplifier. Not surprising as Alpine makes perhaps the best mid-level amplifiers on the market. But I was able to compare it head-to-head with a Rockford Fosgate Prime 150.2 amp that HAD been driving my front speakers. Both amps are rated at 50 watts X 2 RMS, and BOTH had a retail price of $130.00. Today I tried swapping amps and the Alpine was CLEARLY the better amplifier. First, although my grounds are very good, when the headlights are on, there was a very faint alternator whine with the Fosgate amp (you can never hear it with music playing, but it is there). However, there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO alternator whine with the Alpine amp. I even have the gains higher than I did with the Fosgate amp, and I'm using the same power and ground wires, but no matter what electrical accesories are on (I turned EVERYTHING ON as I was curious), there is absolutely no whine at all. Obviously Alpine has better noise rejection. The other main difference is that the Alpine CLEARLY is more powerful. Now both amps are good, to be sure, but the Alpine is CLEARLY superior.

I personally own this amp and it works awesome. It has never over heated, blown up, etc. Its been a very reliable amp for the past few years!
