4.0 out of 5 stars Stare into the void., September 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Alraune (Audio CD)
while sitting under a tree in a thunder storm, one knows what will happen if he stays there too long. while listening to this record i feel the thunder of the storm coming but i do nothing to avoid it. take this cd put it in and play it at maximum volume. while this cd is great it fails in comparison to the live experience of the thrones. i was lucky enough to see "them" live while a silent scared crowd watched in a combination of awe and fright. create that reaction with this cd. after buying it play it as offensivly loud as you can and watch your neighbors reactions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joe Preston's Legs, October 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Alraune (Audio CD)
The Thrones make the Earth move. Rumbling sub-sonic nightmares populate this disk. It's much like a demented movie soundtrack plowing through your grey matter. I would suggest turning it up very loud and annoying your neighbors. Small animals and children will run in fear. Mr. Preston continues amaze and astound on Alraune. Not for the weak of heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Meaning to the Heavy Word, February 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Alraune (Audio CD)
Joe is by far the Master of Heaviness. He alone reigns supreme over the universe ruling it with his weapons of sonic destruction. Alraune is his vehicle. Not for mere mortals.

I ordered this cd from amazon last year. I never got it, and they gave me a refund. I ordered it again last month. I'm still waiting for it. So... is it available or not? I talked to Mr. Preston himself when he came to Chicago, and he said it is not in print, and probably won't be for a good while. He also said the title of the album is pronounced 'all aroun'' Good to know. I also know I'll love this album before I even hear it. Check out those cool Thrones t-shirts!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bass Lord, November 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Alraune (Audio CD)
If you think that Joe Preston brought out the best in the Melvins and Earth, then you will love this. You haven't heard anything like this. This is what Mr. Bungle would sound like if they were the heaviest, bassiest thing in the universe.

Joe is way cooler than you.
