Yes, it's by that Billy Crystal. This book is a recitation by a grandfather to his unborn grandchild about all the things that he knows they will do together. This is a very sweet book and wonderfully illustrated. However, it is specifically written from the viewpoint of a maternal grandfather to his biological granddaughter and makes that relationship very clear. If that's your family relationship, this may be the perfect book for you. If not, you may want to consider whether this book is appropriate for your family.

This book is absolutely adorable. While it was written from the perspective of a dad to his pregnant (with girl) daughter, the sentiments are truly lovely.

In this short board book by award winning actor, author, and comedian Billy Crystal, a grandfather eagerly awaits the arrival of his granddaughter. Told in simple rhyme, we read along as grandpa anticipates meeting this new daughter of his daughter's.

From the joy of that first moment of seeing a new grandbaby, to the excitement of teaching her to fish, fly a kite, tie her shoes, and taking her to see her first movie, the anticipation and love shine through bright and clear.

This would be the perfect gift for any soon-to-be grandfather, or a book simply to be enjoyed by young children.

I was very satisified with my purchase of this book. I bought 3 (one for each set of Grandparents), and everyone loved it. It came very fast and in excellent shape.

We LOVE this book! We have a grandson and we bought this book for his parents, and for us, as first time grandparents. We also bought this book for our daughter as she is expecting our granddaughter in December!
We can hardly wait to read it to our grandchildren over and over again!

I just have this thing for great children's books (I'm an elementary reading teacher). So, as we anxiously awaited the birth of our first grandchild, I wanted "the perfect book". When the book arrived, my husband and I read it together. By the time we reached the middle of the story, we both couldn't help but get a bit choked up. This is the perfect book for our grandchild. Papa wrote a short message to our grandchild inside the cover that read, "I already know I love you!" When our daughter read the message at the baby shower, there was not a dry eye in the room. Perfect and very touching story!

This is a wonderful book. The pictures are adorable and it really is a great book to give a Grandpa to read to their grandchildren. Makes me cry everytime I read it.

I wish I found this book while I was still pregnant to give to my dad for his first Grandpa present. The book is written from a grandpa to his future granddaughter. It talks about the special things he wants to share with his granddaughter. It's very sweet. Growing up on Long Island, I wish he hadn't mentioned that the father is a Red Sox fan. I created little Mets and Yankee banners to be placed over any mention of the Red Sox (boo hiss). Perfect for Grandpa, perfect for Grandparent's Day.

The gist of this book is Billy Crystal fantasizing about taking his future granddaughter along to all of his favorite activities. From baseball games to movies to walks along the beach, there is no activity enjoyed by Billy Crystal that his poor granddaughter cannot escape. It reads like a laundry list of ways in which Billy Crystal expects his granddaughter to validate his interests, i.e. kind of narcissistic and weird.

So content aside, it's also filled with embarrassingly awkward phrasing and shoehorned rhymes. The best/worst of these is when he says, quote "I'm waiting to show you a lie is never as good as true" end quote. I'm using the word quote alongside the quote character to emphasize the fact that this line actually appears in this actual book, and if you read this book to your child, this is a line you will not only be reading, yourself, but also vocalizing, to your child. So do ask yourself, "am I prepared to say these words, in this order, aloud, in front of another human?"

You have been warned. It is not too late for you or your child.

I ordered the book that said "new" but it arrived with marker stain on it.
