I got this one because two reasons, i read on the description "For brutal summers" and i was wanting for a cheap 6" boots. On my imagination i hope this gonna be just like oakley SI Assault but actually they are not. I live in Venezuela, so we do know what Brutal Summers means, and this boots is better keep it away from the Sun exposition or you'll be able to make hotdogs on your feets, they keep warm too much specially using a bulky socks, the upper leather get really hot. The sole have a really good traxion on mud, dry pavement and oil but have a weird slipy feeling on wet surfice just when is new and you are breaking them, eventually It would be fixed as your are walking them. Excelent waterproof shape through i can see.

Very strong and durable components (don't trust people who claim no) very ligth and confortable but not for Hicking! Your feet will be tired quicly if you use them for another intention that is not as Combats boots. I see this more for a Tactical porpuse than patrol. Maybe i should buy the 8" version, cause the high top could help me to control the boot's weigth, instead this 6" high top pull my ankle down so i feel a bad blood circulation. A couple months after i got the Oakley SI assault black, in comparison Oakley would be a Cute useless Girl and Altama Litespeed be such of Rambo II lite version. I like this boot, and i would be glad to get other pairs but just in 8" Version. I would forget this 6" version cause that specific spec is worst than usefull. I Dont know about Exospeed, but i can risk myself to say, Exospeed is also a Cute girl.

Im not police or military, but i should say they are Excelents for Policial Operations, raids, hot persuits, jumping from a patrol car, deployments, and kicking bad guys on a Wet warm Slum, very common on Venezuela. Not good for office job or patrol, so i don't recommend it for lettermen , this are not merrel.


PD: 06/01/2011 : Most than 2 years later, i must accept they are the best boot i had on my life, they give me great stability and sureness, however now in venezuela we aren't on Dry time but Rainy and those boots are working flawless than never before, they eventually become so comfy that i used to be forced picking this pair or my Sports tennis asics shoes, when i know i have to load many boxes, cross a factory zone located in a mud or stone place and be comfy and fresh allday i already know what pair to get. However ankle keep felling weird.

Chicom junk. Ordered a half size up to my jogging shoe size and they still didn`t fit right. Altama should stick to combat boots which they do right.

I am a police manager and was looking for light, cooler boots to wear in the office. These fit nicely. Altama's web site recommended using fitting similar to jogging shoes. They were right on. I ordered a 1/2 size larger which allows nicely for medium weight socks. The boots breathe nicely. They are quite light, yet still comfortable. The pinching that at the ankle that another review noted went away after a couple days.
