Ok, I admit it, I like the over produced, Enya-ed out, Wall-Of-Sound Riverdance imitating New Age Celtic Music.
But once in awhile you have to go back to the roots of Celtic/Irish Music to clear your head. Altan's Finest is a collection stark, basic, beautiful, Irish tunes played by a Master and recorded on State Of The Art equipment. One of the things that was so irritating about Traditional Irish music was the Snap Crackle and Pop of the Analog Recording Media. CD's like Altan's Finest will keep Irish Music relevant in the iPod Age. You will love this tour-de-force of Irish Musical History. Thank you Altan!

My favorite aspect of celtic music is the high tempo. I find it very uplifting and energetic. Altan meets that criteria. I look forward to seeing them in a live concert.
